SUUC’s annual retreat will take place October 2-4 at the Seabeck Conference Center on the Hood Canal. Whether you’re new to our church community or have helped shape it over the years, you are welcome! Our annual retreat is a wonderful place build connections within our community — there’s thought provoking workshops, programs for children, free time to wander to the water, play pickle ball or tennis, stroll through the forest, and other fun activities. WOMEN'S GROUP
THIS SAT, Sep 5, 10am-noon

Most of us have a lot of stuff — clothes, dishes, tools, pictures, knickknacks — and occasionally we need to do some purging. Otherwise our things can take an outsized space in our lives both physically and mentally. But it’s easy to get stuck when trying to get rid of stuff. We’ll explore ways to get unstuck so it is easier to let go of things not useful to us anymore and feel lighter and uplifted afterwards. Bring your best tips that have worked for you to share with the group.

We're meeting in Threadgill Hall. To get there, go between the two buildings on our campus, take a left into the Davis building (the one further from the street) and take a right as soon as you enter through the glass double doors. There will be signs there as well!

On September, 6, 2026, at 10:30 a.m., Rev. Michael Walker will lead a service titled “We Have Two Ears but Only One Tongue.” Attributed to two ancient Greek philosophers, Epictetus and Diogenes, the proverb about having two ears but one mouth/tongue was to remind us to listen more than we speak. Our worship theme for today is Deep Listening, asking us to consider what it would be like if we took the time to really listen to others, rather than assuming we know everything we need to know about the others. In this time of chaos and uncivil discourse, this lesson may be more important than ever.

On Sun, Sep 13, we'll be celebrating our annual Gathering of the Waters service at 10:30am. This Sunday, we invite everyone to bring some water from a place that was meaningful to them from their summer to share in a common vessel. It's also totally fine to bring some water that symbolizes a meaningful moment in your summer -- we won't run a background check on the water to test it's origin or anything 🙂 Hope you can make it! 💧

On August 30, 2026, at 10:30 a.m., Rev. Rachel Baker will lead a service titled “Sing Before Thousands.” Bodies are made to make music. Singing together feels good. Even those of us who “can’t sing” can learn to feel the embodiment of sound.

The first one was a big success (~50 people in attendance!) so we're doing it again! Join us THIS SUNDAY, Aug 23 at noon for a day of games (easy ones to learn -- less "Risk" and more "Uno"), socializing, and a pasta lunch! Many thanks to the six folks who have already volunteered to help make this event happen -- we have such a wonderfully generous community!

On August 23, 2026, at 10:30 a.m., Rev. Rachel Baker will lead a service titled “The Power of Prayer.” Rev. Rachel was recently asked what prayer is, how do you do it, and what does it do? There are many different ways and whys of prayer. But perhaps prayer can be thought of as that first inkling of a desire to reach out beyond oneself. Today’s service was offered to Shoreline UU in 2024 and was requested as a repeat-an-old-service experiment. Rev. Rachel’s colleague shared that his congregation loves their repeat-a-service service. Shoreline UU is trying this out.
