Jesus appeared to the disciples who did not yet know the news of His resurrection, and His first words were, “Peace be with you.”
The hearts of the disciples who had witnessed Jesus’ death could never have been at peace. Yet when He appeared to them again, He spoke of peace. Rather than simply saying, “I have risen,” He was asking the disciples what kind of faith we have in Jesus and before God.
Even in the face of Jesus’ death, they had seen something beyond death, and if that had been confirmed through the resurrection, it would have shown itself in their lives as hope in the resurrection.
To us, that appearance of life has been revealed as peace.
I believe that we are the ones who show peace, and we are also the ones who proclaim peace.
On Saturday, April 4, we visited 70 families in difficult circumstances and delivered Easter flower baskets.
In this age that needs peace, I believe this was a time when the small, personal good news of the resurrection brought a little peace to each and every one of them.

[Deuteronomy 10:18–19]
18 He executes justice for the fatherless and the widow, and loves the sojourner, giving him food and clothing. 19 Love the sojourner, therefore, for you were sojourners in the land of Egypt.

The Bible teaches that caring for orphans and widows is God’s justice.
The reason that issues of livelihood—or the ability to eat and live—are described as part of God’s justice is that even in those times, there were people who were excluded from the system and suffered because of it.
God knows their pain and declares that caring for them is His justice.

Even now, there are people around us who suffer from these same issues.
Though it was a small act, on February 13 we visited, met, and comforted some of them, and we shared groceries with them.
I hope that this brief time brought them comfort and joy - because it is God’s justice.

Starting November 20th, we created a flyer and began promoting on social media to support families in our community who struggle to prepare Christmas gifts for their children.
As soon as the announcement was posted, messages and emails began to come in. We heard stories such as, “I lost my job and cannot afford Christmas presents for my kids,” “My child is sick, and we hope Santa could visit and bring a gift,” “A grandmother is raising her grandchildren and would love a visit,” and many others from families going through financial difficulties.
We organized the applications in order, prepared the gifts, wrapped them with care, and also prepared small Christmas flower pots. Though the gifts and flowers were simple, we prayed that they would bring joy to the children, and that through their smiles, the parents would also feel comfort and happiness.
On Saturday the 20th, volunteers loaded the gifts and flower pots into the car and visited the families in our area. As we went house to house, we prayed together that our steps and this small effort would reflect the purpose of baby Jesus coming to this world.
The weather wasn’t great, but as we knocked on each door and joyfully shouted, “Merry Christmas! Happy New Year!” we believed that in that single greeting, delivered by strangers who came to their home, the joy and love of Jesus’ birth were carried to them.

There are over two thousand verses in the Bible (from Genesis to Revelation) about God’s concern for the poor and His command to defend the oppressed. The fact that there are more than two thousand verses—not five hundred, not a thousand—shows us where God’s heart and concern lie.

One of the first words we encounter in the gospel is Mary’s song when she conceived Jesus: *“He has brought down rulers from their thrones but has lifted up the humble. He has filled the hungry with good things but has sent the rich away empty”* (Luke 1:52–53). These are not the words of Karl Marx, but the words written in the Gospel of Luke.

Jesus summarized the law in two commands: Love God, and love your neighbor as yourself. We all know this teaching, but it is also a call to action on behalf of the poor and the marginalized.

Due to budget cuts, many supplies once provided to struggling students in public schools—such as school materials, supplementary books, and lunch vouchers—have been greatly reduced. In response, we prepared and distributed school supplies to 20 children who did not receive any.

Starting September 4, with the new school year, we also began an after-school program.

We hope that through our actions and this program, these children will experience even just a small glimpse of Jesus’ love, compassion, and hope.

On the 19th (Saturday), we visited children and families in difficult circumstances in our community to share the joy of Jesus’ resurrection.

We are grateful to the churches that donated so we could make Easter baskets, to Elder Randy who joyfully boiled and brought 100 eggs, and to the volunteers who went around to local homes that day, shouting “Happy Easter.” Just as Jesus rose again, we hope that by sharing the joy and hope of His resurrection with those facing hardships, there will be true peace (shalom) in this world.

There is a child who recently joined the after-school program. I hope these two children can pursue and build their dreams here. Although their environment may not be easy, I told them to always remember that there are teachers behind them who are praying for and cheering them on.

We believe that the reason Baby Jesus came to this earth was to show God’s love and joy to this world. While thinking about what to do for the community during Christmas, I decided to offer Christmas gifts for children in families struggling with difficult circumstances. I announced that we were accepting applications for Christmas gifts, and soon received requests via text messages and emails.

One family, for example, had been unemployed for over a year and was unable to buy Christmas gifts for their children. They asked for help because they were financially struggling.

Reading their stories was heartbreaking, and I felt compelled to help. So, on Saturday, the 21st, I visited 30 families who had applied, bringing Christmas gifts for their children.

Despite the rain, I visited with volunteers, joyfully delivering the gifts and saying, “Merry Christmas, Happy New Year” to the children and their parents. Seeing their delighted reactions, everyone was deeply grateful.

What was especially touching was receiving messages from the parents afterward, thanking us and telling us that their children were so happy with the gifts. I was also thankful

There's a saying that it takes a village to raise a child. The reason behind this is that true education is not about a child growing up alone, but learning how to live in this world by understanding relationships within a community, beyond just parents.

However, people say that human relationships are the most challenging aspect of living in this world. When asked where most hurt come from, the most common answer would likely be people in one's immediate surroundings.

Through spending a long time with children and teenagers in impoverished areas, I learned that for them, studying or personal growth was not a priority. Instead, to ensure their survival and safety, they often easily disregarded community order, culture, and rules. From a young age, they learn the logic of power to protect their own survival.

Thinking about how these children might react if unknown adults visited their homes, bringing Christmas gifts along with encouraging words and cards, together with those who prepared this event, we approach with the heart of Jesus.
