Seward Church of Christ

Seward Church of Christ Don't "DO" Church - "BE" Church at the Seward Church of Christ where Christ we love & Christ we serve! We are Christians only! John 3:16-17

The churches of Christ are part of a movement that began over 200 years ago to lead people in the Christian world to return to the Bible as the sole source of spiritual teaching and guidance. To date, churches of Christ have over 40,000 congregations and 5 million members worldwide. The Seward Church of Christ has been in existence since 1962. We are non-denominational and have no central headquar

ters. The head of the church is none other than Jesus Christ himself (Ephesians 1:22-23). Each congregation of the churches of Christ is autonomous, and it is the Word of God that unites us into One Faith (Ephesians 4:3-6). We follow the teachings of Jesus Christ and his holy Apostles. "And they continued steadfastly in the Apostle's doctrine and fellowship and in breaking of bread and in prayer. . ." Acts 2:42

We believe that God created the world, and humanity, to reflect His holy nature, but the world has been corrupted because of the entry of sin into the world. We believe all people bear the image of God, but are in desperate need of redemption from their weak and sinful nature. We believe God longs to set His creation free from the effects of sin, and has begun a process of redemption through the work of His Son, Jesus Christ, and the transforming power of the Holy Spirit. We believe all people are invited to become a part of God's plan of redemption by believing in Jesus Christ, repenting, or turning away from their sinful past, being baptized in the name of Christ, and receiving the transforming gift of God's Holy Spirit. We believe the Bible is God's inspired, infallible word, and that it is sufficient to equip us for the ministry that God has called us to do. We believe our mission, as a congregation of followers of Christ in Seward, is to proclaim the GOSPEL of Christ, and imitate Jesus in ministering to the sick and sinful, the hungry and homeless, and all who need the good news of God's redeeming love. "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved."

How are you doing?
Is life getting you down?
Is your schedule a little too hectic?
Would you like to take a break?
Consider this. In ancient Bible times a priest was on his feet every day from sunrise to sunset offering sacrifices for the sins of the people.
Talk about an exhausting life….
The sin never ended, so the sacrifices had to continue.
Then, along came Jesus. The Messiah. The Only Begotten Son of God.
Hebrews 10:11-12 says, “And every priest stands ministering daily and offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. But this Man, (Jesus) after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God,…”
Did you catch that? HE sat down. His job was complete!
You and I can learn a lot from the Son of God.
A lot of us are trying to do too much and exhausting ourselves in the process.
Let’s focus on the important things in life and rest in the “completed work of our Savior”!
Christ has done everything necessary to secure your salvation. Now, it’s up to you to walk humbly with God, be merciful to others and be just in all you do.
Walk. Don’t run. He will give you rest when you need it!
God bless you in your walk with HIM!

There are good days in the Kingdom and there are great days in the Kingdom. Today was a great day!
I had the opportunity to baptize a great friend today following worship.
Jesus said, “I am the Bread of Life.”
This is the Bread which came down from heaven-not as your fathers ate the manna, and are dead. He who eats this bread will live forever.” John 6:48-58
Feast on my brother!

What we live for determines how we live.

If we live with the desire to love Christ, that will impact the daily decisions that we make.
If we live for climbing the corporate ladder, or
Becoming famous, or
Acquiring possessions, or
Accumulating wealth that too will impact how we live.

How are you living?
What kinds of decisions are you making?

Colossians 3:5 says, “put to death your passions, desires and covetousness..”

That choice will lead to better decision making!

They call it progress!
We (humanity) are fixated on making everything easier and getting done faster.
??? WHY ??? What’s the rush?
Why are we in such a hurry to finish everything we start? Eating fast causes indigestion. Working fast causes the boss to give you more to do. Aging fast causes old age. Living fast causes forgetfulness!

God sent Moses to lead His chosen people out of Egypt and slavery under Pharaoh. Exodus 1 - 40. In spite of all the amazing acts and miracles that God performed in their presence, Israel was always quick to forget what they witnessed.
We are hungry! We are thirsty! We are afraid!
For centuries the descendants of God’s Chosen People bragged about how Moses provided manna in the wilderness. And yet, when Jesus arrived on the scene and performed greater miracles the people were skeptical and were always wanting another sign.
Healing the sick, raising the dead and feeding 5,000 with 5 loaves and 2 fishes was not enough.
Today, we are still in a hurry. The worst part of hurrying is we miss all the important things in life. We miss our children growing up. We miss relationships. We miss the opportunities God puts in front of us.
We miss the truth of God’s WORD! Jesus said, “I am the bread of life.” John 6:35

Slow down. Take a little time to enjoy the beauty God created just for YOU!
Take time to appreciate the family and friends God has given YOU!
Take more time to read God’s WORD and understand the plan He has for your life.
Life doesn’t come from what you consume or accomplish. Life comes from who you consume! Slow down and feast on the ONE who gave His life to redeem your soul!

Man shall not live on bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. Matthew 4:4
God bless you in your deliberate walk in His presence!
