The Foundations New Member Class starts after church next Sunday, Sept. 13! That means that the After Church Bible Study will become the "Before Church Bible Study" starting at 9am in Room 211 (on the right at top of the first set of stairs).
The After Church Bible study will not meet tomorrow, Sept. 6.

Jessica Brashear will be speaking about Digital Detoxing
What happens to our spirits, moods, hearts, and minds when the screens dim and our attention focuses up and out? Jessica will share highlights and reflections of her school family- initiated digital detox and offer suggestions on how you might challenge some of your own digital habits. Come check your phone at the door and join the conversation.

Kelley Limback will be leading the group in Bible Journaling
Slow down, dig into Scripture, and make space to notice what God is saying to you. We’ll explore simple ways to annotate and Bible journal as a meaningful, creative practice for reflecting on His Word and abiding in His grace.

Project Connect Lincoln is a one-day, one-stop community event that brings together local organizations and volunteers to provide essential services and support to individuals and families who are experiencing homelessness or are at risk of homelessness. Concordia students from Dr. Jen Janousek public health course are collecting donations and volunteering at the event. There is a collection bin in the Rock Café for blankets, warm adult clothing; new socks, hygiene products, and more!

The church nursery is starting to look different already! We still have more to do to make it an inviting and functional space for our littlest members of The Rock and their families. Please consider helping out by signing up here: https://signup.com/go/KrPqhfZ
You can donate funds to purchase needed items by giving suggested amounts for an item through the church office or an envelope in the offering basket marked Nursery Project. Links are also provided for purchase if you prefer to buy and donate an item yourself. Gently used similar items can also be donated and dropped off in the church nursery. We are excited to welcome Gretchen Huesmann as the keynote speaker of the Abide in Grace Women's Retreat! Registration is open now at https://therockseward.org/abide/

Gretchen will give two presentations on Sept. 26:

"Abide in Him"
Jesus Himself provides the beautiful imagery for this topic from John 15. Using the vine as our object lesson, we’ll discover the value of drawing near to Christ, not only for survival but to bear the abundant fruit He desires.

"A Perfect Blend"
What happens when God combines your personality and problems, mixes in your messes and mistakes, blends your bitter and the sweet moments, and adds a heaping helping of the Holy Spirit? The result is a Royal recipe; a potion with a purpose. We will explore how God takes our imperfect lives and prepares a perfect blend, a drink offering to quench a thirsting world.

The Lincoln Saltdogs will be having a Faith & Family Night on August 29 in partnership with Concordia University and Lutheran Family Services! A pre-game concert by Crushing Snakes (featuring some members of the Rock worship team) will kick off the evening. Reserved tickets for section 209 are available for $15 or you can buy tickets for any section in the stadium and use code FAITH for $5 off the ticket price.
