St. Stephen's Episcopal Church

St. Stephen's Episcopal Church St.

We are a vibrant and inclusive Christian community, part of the Episcopal tradition of following Jesus into loving, liberating, and life-giving relationships with God, with each other, and with creation. Stephen’s is rooted in the Laurelhurst neighborhood, while engaged with the wider Seattle community as well, serving and celebrating this mission and ministry for over 100 years.

All are welcome to join us for Easter Sunday, April 5 at 10:00 am. We gather to celebrate that Christ is risen – the Lord is risen indeed! Surrounded by music, flowers, and abundant alleluias, we remember again that God brings new life out of places of death – now and always.

You are also invited to observe Maundy Thursday, April 2, and Good Friday, April 3 with us at 6:30 pm.

We look forward to seeing you!

Please join us Sunday, November 16 at 5:00 pm for Choral Evensong.

As the day draws to a close, come rest in the beauty of Evensong — a contemplative service of music, scripture, and prayer drawn from Rite II of the Book of Common Prayer.

Evensong is the Church’s evening offering of praise — a jewel of Anglican worship that invites us to pause at day’s end, giving thanks for light, and entrusting ourselves to God’s keeping through the night.

Come join your community as we sing and pray our way to this simple-yet-rich way of honoring the One who gifts us our breath every day.

"As the Salmon Run" takes place in the not-too-distant future. The natural and human environments are in a state of flux. The engineer who built the 15th dam on the Columbia River in Eastern Washington opens her home, the so-called “After House,” to people displaced by the warming climate. She is sensitive to criticism that her dam hastened the extinction of species in the river, and wants to provide a stable dwelling for those unhoused in body and soul. Guests arrive whose mere presence challenges the climate refugees to build community, experience love, and embrace hope in a world reeling from ecological, social, and political change.

This event is open to all.

Bring in as many pairs of new men’s athletic socks as you can! Place them in the red bin, and Outreach will deliver to Operation Nightwatch on Sunday, December 7.

Socks are critical to the comfort and well-being of homeless people and can open the door to hopefulness. Operation Nightwatch has made many friends by offering a new, dry pair of socks. Imagine what it must be like to have the same pair of nasty, wet socks on your feet, 24-hours a day. Not good.

Socks won’t solve our community’s homeless crisis. But socks can keep homeless people hopeful, knowing there are neighbors like you, who care.
