The Wise Choice Process is a template for the decision-making process. It’s something I use with my clients as I remind them that they always have a choice. ⚖️

The same is true for you. You always have a choice and, therefore, have a lot more power than you may give yourself credit for. 💪

Making a change, however imperfectly, is something to be proud of. It is owning your own life, and your life is a gift. 🎁

If you’d like support in taking ownership of your life and the choices you have, I invite you to reach out to me for life coaching. 😊 I offer virtual coaching in addition to in-person coaching. You can contact me by visiting this link: https://www.cinthiahiett.com/

Yesterday we talked about why it’s important to improve our mental hygiene through boosting our good vibes. 🧠⚡

Now let’s look at a summary of 10 ways to quickly boost your good vibes. 😀 If you’d like to explore this concept in more depth, I invite you to listen to the podcast episode or reach out to work with me as your life coach (links below).

1. Think positively. Look for what is really, truly good instead of automatically assuming the bad.

2. Strengthen your memory for positive information. Use recall for good.

3. Stop minimizing your successes. Don’t push away compliments.

4. Exercise control of your thoughts. Thinking changes the brain.

5. Use negativity wisely. Acknowledge reality, and move in the best direction you can in response to it.

6. Practice gratitude. Your brain and body love it.

7. Accept and validate your own feelings, but don’t believe everything they tell you.

8. Accept that pain is inevitable and that you can choose gain in the pain.

9. Control your behavior. Hold yourself accountable as an adult.

10. Judge yourself in a helpful way. Make right what you can and accept that you cannot change the past.

Don’t pet the cat backwards. 😾 If you know someone doesn’t like something, stop doing it, or don’t be shocked and hurt when you get hissed at and scratched.

My book Wars to Peace offers tools for learning to understand others better so we can interact with them appropriately. 🤝 People are different from one another, and learning to adapt our approaches in the face of differences in gender, personality, and temperament helps us relate better.

This does not mean tiptoeing around others or being ingenuine. It means acknowledging that people process things differently and will hear us better if we communicate in ways that make sense to them.

We will also be less likely to misunderstand their communications to us when we understand their communication styles and our own ways of hearing. 💡 We can refuse to pay attention to these differences or to accommodate them, or we can use the tools that are available to communicate well with others.

If you’re looking for tools to increase your own relational and internal peace, my book Wars to Peace has much to offer. 📚 Get your copy by visiting this link: https://www.amazon.com/Wars-Peace-Keeping-Relationships-Nuclear-ebook/dp/B0BGKQ5ZYC/

How do you know if someone loves you?

❤️ A person who loves you well will not be perfect but will be humble when they have been wrong.

❤️ A person who loves you well will ask for and receive your forgiveness.

❤️ A person who loves you well honors what you really need, even if it is inconvenient or uncomfortable for them, and even if it is not the same as what they need.

❤️ A person who loves you well is courteous and gracious, especially within the relationship.

❤️ A person who loves you well supports you in your feelings and struggles.

❤️ A person who loves you well will not publicly shame or reject you for your mistakes and will still “claim” you, even if they can’t approve of what you did.

❤️ A person who loves you well will gently tell you the truth, though, privately and kindly letting you know when you are harming your relationships and not being the best version of yourself.

❤️ A person who loves you well will not “keep score.” They will not overcomplicate your every mistake with a list of all the things you have ever done that were problematic in any way.

❤️ A person that loves you well will continue to believe in the best version of you, the person you can grow to be, and will encourage you to become that person.

How do we repair self-esteem?

Remember, low self-esteem is with us because we are fallen, but we do not have to let it steal from us on an ongoing basis.

We can journey back to reality by going to the One Who made us. The One Who gave us the gift of existence still knows who we are, and He looks forward to helping each of us find out and enjoy who we are meant to be. ❤️

This list is an excellent way to begin repairing our self-esteem. 📝 And if you’d like to explore this topic in more depth, I invite you to tune into the “Identity Issues” episode of Conversations with Cinthia. 🎧 Here's the link to listen: https://cinthiahiett.podbean.com/e/6-16-24/

How do you keep your relationships from going nuclear? 🤯

Inspired by the international DEFCON system, I’ve created the interrelational DEFCON system to help us understand where we are on the spectrum between peace and war. 🌡️ Whether we’re aware of it or not, we’re always at some point in the 5 stages of readiness in our relationships.

If we’re aware of it though, and have the understanding and tools needed to navigate it, we can learn how to keep our relationships from going nuclear. 🤝

📚 In my book, Wars to Peace: Keeping Relationships from Going Nuclear, I give you these tools and show you practical ways to avoid all-out war in your relationships while maintaining your self-respect. 👍🏻

Relationships don’t have to be places of danger or stress, whether it’s with a stranger, your friends, or the people closest to you. 😊 You can have peace. 🕊️

Wars to Peace is available as an audiobook, ebook, and paperback. You can grab your copy at this link: https://www.amazon.com/Wars-Peace-Keeping-Relationships-Nuclear-ebook/dp/B0BGKQ5ZYC/

How do we take responsibility for our own motivation and inspiration?

External resources (like my show, Conversations with Cinthia 😉) can certainly help, but, in the long run, adults need to take responsibility for their own motivation and inspiration instead of just waiting for the world to inspire and motivate them. This is especially important for those who lead since motivating and inspiring others can be part of the job.

So here are some questions to consider:

💡 What is the purpose of your life?

💡 Are the things you’re doing aligned with your life mission and values?

💡 Are your ways of promoting what you believe simple and authentic to you?

💡 What motivates you? What demotivates you?

💡 If you’re a leader, do you know your people? Are you committed to them?

💡 What is the story of your life? How are you managing the pain and struggles it involves?

💡 On what do you rest your faith?

💡 What is your kryptonite? How do you talk to yourself in your head?

💡 Are you having fun? Not every task in life can be fun, but some things should be.

🎧 To consider these questions in more detail, tune into the episode “How to Be Inspired” by visiting this link: https://cinthiahiett.podbean.com/e/how-to-be-inspired-6-2-24/

The relationship between motivation and inspiration is somewhat cyclical. 🔄 That’s why I say, “We motivate to inspire and inspire to motivate.”

🔥 Motivation can be intrinsic or extrinsic, but it culminates in an inner drive to do something and behave in a certain way. It is what moves us from desire to will.

💡 Inspiration makes us want to do something or gives us an idea about what to do.

Both are important, and both can be helped by resources from the outside.

But, the best motivation and inspiration are the ones we have internalized, the ones that come from inside of us. 💖

I want you to be influential in your own life. ✨ To learn more about how you can do this, I invite you to listen to the “How to Be Inspired” episode of my radio show Conversations with Cinthia. 🎧 The links to listen are below.

Adults have the ability and the expectation to recognize that their behavior impacts other people.

Our behavior can make us attractive or unattractive. 😍🫤

Owning your impact does not mean being someone that you are not, hiding your feelings all the time, or constantly seeking to meet everyone else’s expectations. 🫣

💡 It means acknowledging that others are allowed to have feelings about the impact of your decisions.

To further explore how we can make ourselves attractive to others, I invite you to listen to the episode “Attractiveness” on my radio show Conversations with Cinthia. 🎧 Here's the link to listen: https://cinthiahiett.podbean.com/e/attractiveness-replay-of-5-14-23/

How do I know if someone is worth taking a risk on in relationship?

There are many things that you may want to consider, including:

👉 Trustworthiness - Do you see this person as honest and reliable?

👉 Compatibility - Do you have similar values, interests, and goals?

👉 Communication - Do they listen to your needs, your concerns?

👉 Respect - If they mess up, do they fix it?

👉 Emotional intelligence - Do they handle their emotions in a healthy way? Can they recognize and respond to your emotions in a supportive way?

Ultimately, only you can decide if taking a risk on someone in relationship is worth it.

Remember, every human is a risk.

However, it's a wonderful thing to risk on. 💞 I would rather have risked and gotten hurt than the hurt of never knowing the mystery, the joy, the peace of having a human in my life that understands me, that wants to help me, that forgives me and accepts me.

Want to learn more about how you can build trusting relationships? I wrote a book called Wars to Peace that shows you ways to apply these principles. 📚 You can get your copy at this link: https://www.amazon.com/Wars-Peace-Keeping-Relationships-Nuclear/dp/B0BF35LLDG/
