Welcome to Congregation Gates of Heaven!
(1)

Come and be a part of our closely-knit congregational family, united in worship, education, and the performance of Mitzvot. Congregation Gates of Heaven is a Reform synagogue in Schenectady, NY, serving members from throughout the Capital Region. Since our founding in 1854, we have grown to 500 families, coming together to create a kehillah k'doshah, a holy community. Building on the tenet of 'educating each child according to their way,' we house a vibrant religious school that offers each opportunity for our children to thrive. We take pride in being a welcoming, open community, dedicated to Lifelong learning, Social Action, and meaningful worship.

We celebrated a special milestone on Simchat Torah, the Hebrew anniversary of our incorporation, but today the celebration continues! On October 20, 1856, our founding leaders signed our certificate of incorporation, and the rest is history. 170 years later, our community is still growing, still gathering, and still shining brightly in the Capital District.

Happy anniversary to our members, friends, and supporters. You are the reason this story continues!

Be part of the next chapter! Whether you’re joining us for the first time or coming back after time away, we’d love to have you. Become a new or returning supporter today and help carry Gates of Heaven’s legacy into the future. Every gift, large or small, helps keep our doors open, our programs vibrant, and our community strong.

Just a few of the amazing things happening at Gates Quest on Sunday: 4th graders discovered firsthand that there are some tasks that are simply too great to be accomplished by one person, but maybe easily accomplished by many together, if everyone cooperates; the Preschool and Kindergarten students learned about fruits found in Israel with Elad; GOHTY had a great time at Ellms Farm.

On October 7 2023, 1200 souls were murdered. 251 were carted off as hostages, many perished there. 3 of those were part of the Bibas family—- do not forget them

Join us at 5:45 today at the Schenectady JCC to remember all the victims of slaughter and brutal assaults of that day … and huge amount of human loss in the days afterwards

May their memories be for a blessing
