We are a liberal religious community of old, young, single, married individuals living in many different types of families, affluent, economically challenged, and variously abled. We are excited about finding new people to join with us as we worship, sing, play, teach, study, and work for social justice together. Unitarian Universalism is a caring, open-minded religion that encourages you to seek

your own spiritual path. Our faith draws on many religious sources, welcoming people with different beliefs. We are united by shared values, not by creed or dogma. Rainbows Have Nothing to Hide
Worship Service on Sunday, June 7, 2026 at 10:30 AM
with Maria Elmer, Rev. Lynn Gardner, Rev. Wendy Bartel & the UUSS Choir

We gather to celebrate the beauty of community that is PRIDE… a rainbow community of those who are LGBTQ+ and allies, too! We’ll also celebrate the glorious array that is created each time we gather with our annual Flower Ceremony, a tradition that is over 100 years old. Please bring a flower (or two or more) for each person in your family to add to the bouquets, and then you’ll get to bring some of that shared beauty in a different form home with you.

This Pride Month, we celebrate the joy, resilience, and beauty of LGBTQIA+ communities.

In "The Q***r Beatitudes," Tim Atkins (also known as Sister Sweet Suffering Tea of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence) offers this blessing:

"Blessed are we, the whole q***r family,
for love is our birthright, and joy is our inheritance."

May we continue building a world where every person can live, love, and flourish as their full self. 🌈

Imagining Our Thriving
Worship Service on Sunday, May 24, 2026, at 10:30 AM
with LB Hannahs and Stephanie Maslanka

So many of our present stories are shaped by the legacy and history of colonization and its sibling interlocking systems of oppression, like racism, sexism, homophobia, etc. It’s hard to imagine life before colonization and after colonization. In this week’s service we will explore imagining a future where all beings and the Earth are thriving, and how our present actions can bring us one step closer to a world beyond our current realities.

Last month, Unitarian Universalists from Albany, Unitarian Universalist Society of Schenectady - UUSS, Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Saratoga Springs, Glens Falls, and UUCatskills came together for a powerful shared service — a reminder that even in difficult times, we do not face the world alone.

In this reel, guest minister Rev. Cathy Rion Starr reflects on the dissonance of belonging to a faith that affirms the inherent worth and dignity of all beings while living in a world that so often denies it. And still, we gather. We sing. We organize. We care for one another.

The music you hear is “Joy in the Morning” by Adam Podd, sung by our combined congregations:

“We’ll find strength in each other…”

And maybe that’s part of the answer. 💛

To Bear Witness
Worship Service on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at 10:30 am
with Rev. Wendy Bartel, Robyn Salvin, Drew Hamelink, and 25/50 Anniversary members

Where were you in 1976? In 2001? If you are old enough to have been alive for one or both, how are you different? How are you the same? Might we be the living legacy of others’ stories? What is the living story we hope to pass on through UUSS? May we be willing to bear witness to life’s unfolding.

Complex & Intricate: Stories of Mothering
Worship Service on Sunday, May 10, 2026, at 10:30 AM
with Rev. Lynn Gardner, Jamie Gargano, and Maria Elmer

Human beings are complicated. When it comes to mothers, being a Mom (or not,) there are vivid or imperceptible strands of relationships, disappointments, healing, loss, and love. We’ll explore stories that are woven of powerful, beautiful, and transformative experiences and how they inform our lives today.
