"Ordinary people are always looking outside and base their happiness on external things while you are learning to look inside. When you learn to look inside, you'll find things you don't like. If you are serious about improving yourself, you naturally will drop the things that you don't like. That's how you improve. And only you know that. It's not meant for anyone else to praise or reward you for that. That's why it's called cultivation. It's a private thing. It's your personal life.

That's how you choose to live your life being true to yourself.
If you drop more, you get more. For you to get there, there are certain things you need to drop. You need to make sacrifices. If you make the proper sacrifices, you will make progress."

Instead, recognize it: “I am unhappy right now, and this is not getting me anywhere.” When you are deeply afflicted, turn to the sound of the Dharma. This serves as an antidote. "If you think you’re better than others, then you have no virtue. A truly noble person NEVER thinks she’s better than anyone.
My teacher used to say: 'I’m just an ant. Everyone is above me. Everyone is better than me.' That’s how he genuinely saw himself — and that came from great wisdom.
The moment you see yourself as special or superior, you’ve already peaked. It’s only when you see that you’re not as good as others — and that you still have room to grow — that real cultivation continues. If you’re truly invincible, you become humble. If you still think you’re special, you’re not there yet."
