Maurice Kamins is a San Francisco treasure (one we're proud to call our own) who's spent almost 40 years hand-carving shofars in his Glen Park garage. He's made close to 700 of them and has never sold a single one. "It's singing to you," he says, of the moment a horn finally reveals its sound. Come hear it for yourself. Join us for the High Holidays to hear the beautiful shofars Maurice made by hand.

Maurice Kamins estimates he’s made about 700 shofars since the late 1980s, making him one of the country’s only prolific shofar artisans.

Rabbi Jessica Zimmerman Graf opened the Mensch Award Ceremony with a moving invocation, setting the tone for today’s event commemorating the 81st anniversary of the end of WWII, hosted by the Mensch International Foundation in partnership with SFJROTC and American Legion Post 315.

Grateful to have shared the afternoon with such distinguished guests:

Rabbi Graf and Josh Brown were just two of the many who joined JFCS’s Mitzvah Makers this week, filling gift bags to help usher in a sweet new year for those who could use a little extra warmth this season.

Not every meaningful Jewish moment happens in a sanctuary.

Maybe it's a Shabbat dinner table. A niggun you can't get out of your head. A conversation at Nosh 'n Schmooze. The sound of the shofar at Crissy Field.

As we head into the Days of Awe, we're asking: where do you feel most at home in your Jewish life? Tell us.

Elul asks a simple but not-so-simple question: what are you ready to leave behind?

Maybe it's a grudge you've been carrying longer than it deserves. A habit that doesn't serve you anymore. A story about yourself that was never quite true to begin with.

Teshuvah isn't about punishment — it's about return. A chance to put something down before the new year begins.

What's yours? Tell us in the comments, or just sit with the question this week. Either way, you're not doing this alone, that's what this season, and this community, are for.

Meet our Wednesday Crew — unofficial title, extremely official impact. This week they tackled polishing silver, whacking weeds, rooftop madness and believe it or not, carpet repair! All of it, getting us ready for those upcoming Days of Awe.

This is what community looks like; not just big moments, but the 'simple' Wednesday mornings and the people who quietly get this building ready so the rest of us walk in and feel like everything's exactly as it should be.

To our Wednesday Crew: We see you and are so very grateful.

Chametz is back and we celebrated accordingly with our Post Pesach Cocktail Party! Eight days down, cocktails UP. 🥂The drinks were flowing (finally!), the room was electric, and the joy of being together after the holiday was something really special. ✨

Thank you to everyone who came out, raised a glass and made this so much more than a party. You showed up for something fun & meaningful - and that's what In Good Company is all about. 💜

Next event is already in the works. Stay close, you won't want to sit this one out!
