🎶 Sometimes worship just takes over.

This past Sunday, during “Total Praise,” the Spirit moved in such a powerful way that what started with the sanctuary choir turned into a congregational pop-up choir! Voices rose from every corner of the sanctuary—including Rev. Cynthia—as we lifted our hearts
together in worship.

“Lord, I will lift mine eyes to the hills…” ❤️ What a beautiful reminder that worship is at its best when we join together in praise.

🎓 Because of your support, stories like Latrese’s are possible.

Hear from Latrese Johnson, a Thomas Scholarship recipient and recent graduate of Howard University, as they share how the scholarship—and the support, prayers, and encouragement of the Camphor community—helped make completing all eight semesters possible.

Latrese graduated this month with a degree in Afro American Studies and a minor in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, and hopes to serve African American communities as a teacher and writer in museums and archives, with the goal of becoming a professor of Black Studies.

Yesterday, Pastor Cynthia Williams continued our Living the Resurrection series with a powerful and convicting word: Facing Your Jerusalem.

Jerusalem is not always a place on a map. Sometimes it is the place that broke you. The place of failure, grief, disappointment, fear, betrayal, or shame. The place you’ve been tempted to outrun.

But what if resurrection means returning? Not alone, but trusting that Jesus meets us there.

Pastor Cynthia challenged us with this question:

What is your Jerusalem?

And do you have the courage to return to the place that broke you? Could you stay there in faith, trusting and knowing that God can and will meet you, transform you, and empower you there?

🎥 Watch this clip and be encouraged: failure is not final, and God still meets us in hard places.

What is your Jerusalem?

The place of failure.
The place of shame.
The place of disappointment, fear, or the thing you’ve been trying to outrun.

The good news of resurrection is this: Jesus does not abandon us there. He meets us there. Speaks peace there. And raises us there. ✨

Join us this Sunday at Camphor as Pastor Cynthia Williams preaches “Facing Your Jerusalem” from our Living the Resurrection series.

📖 Luke 24:36–49, 53

Because:
Failure is not final.
Shame does not get the last word.
And the Spirit still gives us power to stand where we once collapsed.

Come worship with us. We’d love to welcome you. ❤️

Even Peter—the rock. The one who walked with Jesus, witnessed miracles, and knew the Lord intimately—had a tendency to drift back toward fear, doubt, and his former self when separated from Jesus.

In her Mother’s Day message, “He Never Gives Up on Me,” Rev. Dr. Genia Garrett reminds us that Peter’s story is both a warning and a comfort. When we distance ourselves from the presence of Jesus, the gray storm clouds of doubt, discouragement, and darkness can begin to settle over us too.

But thanks be to God, the story doesn’t end there. Jesus is faithful to meet us in our struggle, restore us, and remind us who we are.

Watch the rest of the sermon from our Living the Resurrection series through the link in our bio on our website. 🤍

When life takes you down the “we had hoped” road…

The place where disappointment lingers.
Where what you believed would happen… didn’t.
Where everything you’ve seen God do still doesn’t match what you’re experiencing right now.

The disciples knew that place. And if we’re honest—we do too.

But here’s the good news:
Our hopes weren’t wrong… they just weren’t complete.

God is still alive.
Still moving.
Still writing a bigger story than we can see.

Don’t stop on the road of “we had hoped.” Keep walking. He’s not finished yet.

Because of your generosity, lives are being changed. 🙌🏾

Meet Keyon Archer, a Thomas Scholarship recipient and freshman student-athlete at the University of St. Thomas. Through this scholarship, Keyon is able to focus more fully on his studies—without the weight of financial stress.

In his own words, he’s not only grateful for the support from Camphor, but inspired by it… with hopes of one day giving back to others in the same way.

This is what it looks like to invest in the next generation. This is what it means to love boldly. ❤️

Thank you, Camphor family, for making stories like Keyon’s possible.
