Día de los Mu***os Celebration Volunteers Needed
As part of our parish’s Jubilee Year of St. Francis, St. Francis of Assisi Parish is planning a Día de los Mu***os Celebration this fall, and we are seeking parishioners interested in helping to plan and bring this special celebration to life.
Día de los Mu***os has a strong connection to our Catholic observances of All Saints’ Day on November 1 and All Souls’ Day on November 2. These days remind us of the communion of saints, our call to pray for the faithful departed, and our Christian hope in eternal life.
The celebration will honor and remember our loved ones who have passed while bringing our parish community together through faith, prayer, fellowship, and cultural traditions. Plans include a community ofrenda (altar), opportunities for parishioners to remember deceased loved ones with purchasing plants like Mums and fresh marigolds (cempasúchil), prayer,activities for children and families, and fellowship.
During this Jubilee Year of St. Francis, we hope the celebration will reflect the Franciscan spirit of prayer, fraternity, welcome, and community, while honoring the rich cultural traditions within our parish.
We welcome volunteers of all ages and backgrounds to help with planning, decorating the ofrenda, flowers, children’s activities, hospitality, communications, and other aspects of the celebration. You do not need to have prior experience with Día de los Mu***os—just an interest in helping our parish create a meaningful and welcoming celebration.
