The Moon-Sighting Committee of the Council of Shia Muslim Scholars of North America announces that Monday, May 18th, 2026, will be the first day of Dhu al-Hijjah, 1447 A.H., for the entire region of North America.

This determination is based on the fact that there were verified sightings of the crescent moon by the naked eye at sunset on Sunday, May 17th, 2026, in different regions of North America.

The Moon-Sighting Committee of the Council of Shia Muslim Scholars of North America announces that Sunday, April 19th, 2026, will be the first day of Dhu al-Qidah, 1447 A.H., for the entire region of North America.

This determination is based on the fact that there were no verified sightings of the crescent moon by the naked eye at sunset on Friday, April 17th, 2026, in any of the regions of North America. Therefore, Saturday, April 18th, 2026, will be the last day of Shawwal, 1447 A.H.

The Moon-Sighting Committee of the Council of Shia Muslim Scholars of North America announces that Friday, March 20th, 2026, will be the first day of the month of Shawwal, 1447 A.H. for the entire region of North America.

This determination is based on the fact that there were verified sightings of the crescent moon by the naked eye at sunset on Thursday, March 19th, 2026, in many locations.
