Please pray for the repose of the souls of Alex Dittmar and Jack McLaughlin, and for comfort and peace for their families, friends, and the St. Bede Community.

This morning, the Saint Bede community gathered in the Abbey Church for Mass as we mourn two heartbreaking losses within our community.

Together, with our Benedictine monks, we lifted up in prayer the Dittmar and McLaughlin families, asking God to surround them with strength, comfort and peace in the difficult days ahead. ✝️🙏

Mass for the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary will be celebrated tomorrow, *Saturday, August 15, at 7 am. Let us rejoice in this solemnity and renew our trust in Mary’s maternal care.

On the Feast of the Assumption, August 15, 2026, a free admission Marian Conference entitled “Fear is Useless, What is Needed is Trust”, will be held at the L-P Township High School Auditorium, 541 Chartres St., La Salle, IL from 8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

The day will consist of speakers:
Father Chris Alar, National Provincial Superior of the National Shrine of the Divine Mercy in Stockbridge, MA (via recorded video)

Live speaker Liz Kelly Stanchina, Community Leader for the Women's Foundation at Bishop Robert Barron's Word on Fire Institute, and, an international recognized and award-winning author/co-author of more than a dozen books. Books will be available for sale as well.

Please pray for the peaceful repose of the soul of Kathleen “Kathy” Doyle and for consolation for her family and friends. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated tomorrow (Friday, July 10th) at 10:30am at St. Louis Catholic Church. Burial of Cremated Remains will immediately follow the mass at Oakland Cemetery.
