The passage of scripture today is Hebrews 6:8-20

8 but if it bears thorns and briers, it is rejected and near to being cursed, whose end is to be burned.

A Better Estimate
9 But, beloved, we are confident of better things concerning you, yes, things that accompany salvation, though we speak in this manner. 10 For God is not unjust to forget your work and [d]labor of love which you have shown toward His name, in that you have ministered to the saints, and do minister. 11 And we desire that each one of you show the same diligence to the full assurance of hope until the end, 12 that you do not become [e]sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

God’s Infallible Purpose in Christ
13 For when God made a promise to Abraham, because He could swear by no one greater, He swore by Himself, 14 saying, “Surely blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply you.” 15 And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise. 16 For men indeed swear by the greater, and an oath for confirmation is for them an end of all dispute. 17 Thus God, determining to show more abundantly to the heirs of promise the [f]immutability of His counsel, [g]confirmed it by an oath, 18 that by two [h]immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we [i]might have strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold of the hope set before us.

19 This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which enters the Presence behind the veil, 20 where the forerunner has entered for us, even Jesus, having become High Priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek.

When you've sat at the bedside of your loved one in the hospital room, when you've been the one to nurture them and feed them and medicate them, and when you've been the one who's been beside someone who needed your help, and you have received help from God, what does it do? It prepares you to help somebody else.

The passage of scripture today is Matthew 14:25-33
25 Now in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went to them, walking on the sea. 26 And when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, “It is a ghost!” And they cried out for fear.

27 But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, [c]“Be of good cheer! [d]It is I; do not be afraid.”

28 And Peter answered Him and said, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.”

29 So He said, “Come.” And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus. 30 But when he saw [e]that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!”

31 And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” 32 And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased.

33 Then those who were in the boat [f]came and worshiped Him, saying, “Truly You are the Son of God.”

You prayed, and trouble came anyway. You fasted, and trouble came anyway. You were diligent, and you still got sick. You did what was right, and you still found yourself in trouble. Trouble can come anyway. Israel, did you do what God told you to do? Yes, yes, yes, we did.

The passage of scripture today is Psalms 42-43
As the deer [b]pants for the water brooks,
So pants my soul for You, O God.
2 My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.
When shall I come and [c]appear before God?
3 My tears have been my food day and night,
While they continually say to me,
“Where is your God?”

4 When I remember these things,
I pour out my soul within me.
For I used to go with the multitude;
I went with them to the house of God,
With the voice of joy and praise,
With a multitude that kept a pilgrim feast.

5 Why are you [d]cast down, O my soul?
And why are you disquieted within me?
Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him
[e]For the help of His countenance.

6 [f]O my God, my soul is cast down within me;
Therefore I will remember You from the land of the Jordan,
And from the heights of Hermon,

43 Vindicate me, O God,
And plead my cause against an ungodly nation;

3 Oh, send out Your light and Your truth!
Let them lead me;
Let them bring me to Your holy hill

You can see that although I have been shaken, you can see I have fallen, I keep getting back up. I am not broken. I am not destroyed. It gets hard sometimes, but it doesn't destroy me. I still get the victory. I still have the victory in this world, and if not in this world, I've got victory in heaven.

2 To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary.

4 Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name.

5 My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips:

6 When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches.

7 Because thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice.

Yes, Lord. Are there any hearts that surrender to God this morning? Is there anybody that can say, “Lord, Lord, I want to go deeper. I want to go farther. Lord, I want to be all that You’ve called me to be. Lord, I need to take another step. You just showed me in the mirror that I’ve come a little ways, but I’ve got farther to go. I haven’t made it yet. I’ve got to go farther. I’ve got to go deeper.”

If it's a call, if it's a text, if it's a ride someplace, if it's just praying with them—your mission tonight, if you so choose to accept it, is to find somebody you're going to bless.
