Portland Baha'i Center In 1992, the Bahá’ís of Portland purchased the historic
St. Johns Post Office for a local center. The community was established here in 1906.

Please also see the page Portland Metro Baha'i Community. This is the official site for the Portland Oregon Baha'i Center. On September 17, 1992, the Bahá’ís purchased the historic and beautiful St. John’s Post Office for a Center. Designed by local architect Francis Marion Stokes, the magnificent building was constructed in 1932. According to the retired St. John Postal Superintendent Bi

ll Oeschger, “when Mr. Newman, the government inspector, looked over his new post office back in ’33, he said it was the best-lighted, best-architected, best-built building he had seen anywhere in the region at that time.”

Currently the Bahá’í Center hosts a range of events for all ages: devotional gatherings, classes for adults, youth and children, and informational meetings. Bahá’u’lláh, a title which means Glory of God, spoke words inspired by the one God, creator of all that is. These Divine Words, revealed by Bahá’u’lláh, are the basis of the Bahá’í Faith. Now millions of Bahá’ís and their friends are striving to build unified families and communities in accordance with this new guidance from God for our age. The Bahá’í community welcomes all to join in systematic learning, putting into practice the related service activities, then reflecting on and adding to our knowledge in a continuing cycle of activity.

Online Interfaith Devotions: Portland
Sun Jun 14 2026, 10:30am - 11:30am
Zoom conferencing

"We ... would hope that the people ... may be guided by the blessed words: ‘Say: all things are of God.’ This exalted utterance is like unto water for quenching the fire of hate and enmity which smouldereth within the hearts and breasts of men. By this single utterance contending peoples and kindreds will attain the light of true unity."
~Baha’í Faith, Bahá’u’lláh

On Sunday we celebrate our program, Flowers of One Garden for Race Unity Day!

This day is special to Baha’is because the idea of the unity of mankind is one of the tenants of the Baha’i Faith. There is really only one race, the human race.

In reality all are members of one human family–children of one Heavenly Father.

We will read some quotes from various religious sources and, along with music and prayers, get a feel for this very important subject. So join us this Sunday! Come early and get your seat and enjoy fellowship with other early birds. We open at 10:00 a.m. and our program will begin at 10:30 sharp. The Zoom link is below.

Sincerely, Your host, Karen 💟

Juneteenth: Portland Bahá’í Center
Fri Jun 19 2026, 7:00pm - 9:00pm
Bahá’í Center, 8720 N Ivanhoe St, Portland, OR 97203

Please join us for a joyful evening of music, rhythm, and fellowship as we celebrate Juneteenth together at the Portland Bahá’í Center.

Juneteenth commemorates June 19, 1865 — the day enslaved African Americans in Texas finally learned of their freedom, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. It is a celebration of freedom, resilience, culture, and community. We hope you will come enjoy the vibrant rhythms, singing, dancing, and spirit of unity with friends and neighbors of all ages.

Please contact [email protected] for more information, or call the Center at 503-289-6331.
