This week, we celebrated the ministry of Derek Beaudoin, who has served our youth for over 16 years. Derek is moving on to a new kind of ministry as a letter carrier in St. Helens. We're so grateful for his service to our youth, and for discipling countless students into followers of Christ.

One of Derek's former students, McKahan Tanner McGuire, will be taking over as our youth minister. We look forward to seeing what God has for our youth through McKahan's ministry in the coming years!

A question for us: what would Jesus find in American churches? What would Jesus find here? Maybe not in our building, but other buildings around the city, the state, the nation? Would he find racism? Sexism? Violence? Hatred? Abuse? The love of money? Political power plays? Child abuse? Homophobia? Etcetera, etcetera, etcetera.
We even saw this last year, the Lord's Prayer co-opted as a military video promoting war and violence.
He is ready to clear house.

"The apostles dedicated themselves, because they really wanted to hear from the Holy Spirit. And I think the best way for us to understand where God is leading us is to pray, to quiet ourselves, to listen, to wait, to fast, to do it together with other people, all listening together, all focused together, all in prayer together. The Holy Spirit does speak, but the church in Antioch shows us that God's voice is clearest to us when we take the time, when we slow down, quiet down, listen together. That's what the people did."

Today we celebrate Rivergate Community Church, a community of faith here in North Portland that served our community joyfully for 75 years.

Rev. Carren Woods and Sandy Bass were instrumental in building connections and service opportunities between the many churches on the peninsula. Much of the work of AllOne Community Services occurred because of Rivergate's presence in our community.

Rivergate held its final service as a church this afternoon.

We're so grateful for you all. Thank you for being such an important presence in North Portland.

Hi 👋 David here. Josh asked me to make a post advertising our Good Friday and Easter services.

I remember people loved WordArt in the '90s. I assume we all still do, right?

I made what I think is a pretty good advertisement. I couldn't decide if it would be better or worse to put an image of the empty tomb behind the words. It's borderline unreadable, but it adds a bit of pizzazz, which is maybe worth it?

Anyway, join us for our Good Friday service at 6 PM in the youth room (enter through the Oswego entrance).

Then join us Sunday morning at 10 for our Easter service! We'll have an Easter egg hunt for the kids after service.
