Day 1: Main sermon takeaway carousel caption

Are we actually following Jesus or just getting really good at managing the rules? In Matthew 5 through 7, Jesus is not handing out a spiritual personality test. He is showing us what a real Christian life looks like. We love the clear don't commands because they feel simple and measurable. But Jesus keeps pressing beneath the surface to our motives, our loopholes, and the places we explain away disobedience. He is not trying to get rid of God's commands. He is fulfilling them and inviting us into a different way to live. This week, slow down and let His teaching confront your heart, not just other people's Christianity.

Day 2: Exact quote post caption

"When we are given a law, we are then held accountable to that law, and since we don't like being held accountable to that law, we will do everything we can to develop a legal defense as to why we're not guilty about that law."

Sit with this. Where are you building a careful defense instead of a humble yes to Jesus?

Day 3: Reflection question for comments

If you are honest, which is easier for you: avoiding the obvious don't sins or actually doing the hard daily do this of Jesus? Most of us can say we have not murdered anyone or robbed a store this week. It is much harder to face the anger, greed, judgment, or indifference that still lives in our hearts. Jesus cares about the whole picture, not just what we technically did or did not do. Take a minute, look at your own walk, and share in the comments: where do you most feel the tension between rule keeping and real obedience right now?

Day 4: Invitation to Sunday connecting theme to attendance

Two people can claim the same Jesus and completely cancel each other out while both feel like they are "keeping the rules." Jesus offers something better than that kind of culture war religion. In Matthew 5 through 7 He shows us what His way actually looks like in real life: in our homes, our politics, our money, our enemies. This Sunday we are going back into these chapters and asking not just what is allowed, but what is Jesus really forming in us. If you are hungry for a faith that is more than loopholes and labels, come walk through this with us.

Day 5: Prayer / next-step response

Jesus is not trying to trap you in technicalities. He is inviting you into a whole new way to live. Maybe you feel stuck between what you know the Bible says and how you actually live. Maybe you have been more focused on other people's Christianity than your own. Today, begin with this simple prayer: "Jesus, I want Your yoke, not my loopholes. Show me where I am managing rules instead of following You." You do not have to sort this out alone. We want to walk with you, pray with you, and help you take a real next step with Him.

Save this and join us Sunday as we keep walking slowly through Matthew 5 to 7 together.

History keeps repeating when we forget what God has said. Our generation can be the one that remembers His word and passes it on. As you watch, ask Him: "What part of this cycle am I choosing today?"

06/02/2026

The words of Jesus are meant to prick our hearts, not to crush us, but to call us to mercy. He looks at your wounded, weak, sick place and says, "I can work with that." If you feel convicted, turn to Him today and simply pray, "God, have mercy on me," and yield yourself to His Spirit.

Jesus looks at your wounded, weak, even sick places and says, "I can work with that." He is not asking you to be perfect, just willing to yield, repent, and respond to His Spirit. If you feel that pull today, pause and tell Him, "I'm willing," and let Him do the work in you.

The other week, someone walked up to the church and asked a simple question:

“Could I just sit in the sanctuary and pray for a little while?”

There wasn’t a service happening.
No event.
No program.

They just needed a moment with the Lord.

We’re grateful Tree of Life can be a place where people know they are welcome to seek the Lord when they need hope, peace, comfort, or prayer.

Sometimes ministry simply looks like a quiet sanctuary and an open door.

Impactful ministry is built through small acts of faithfulness.

A cleaned container.
A prepared classroom.
An emptied trash can.
A volunteer willing to help with the unnoticed tasks.

Most people will never see moments like this, but they make so much of what happens at Tree of Life possible.

Every week, ministry moves forward because people quietly give their time, energy, and care in practical ways that matter more than they realize.

The big moments people experience at Tree of Life are made possible by small acts of service done faithfully behind the scenes.

The vision for Tree of Life Youth Ministries is to encourage students to grow in their walk with the Lord by establishing their understanding of topics like the Love of God, sin, their purpose, peer pressure, how to study the Bible, and more. So far this year, we have covered the topics of prayer, sabbath, fasting, and solitude.

Do you want to support this ministry and the work that the Holy Spirit is doing in these students? Please contact Pastor Tori at [email protected] or by phone at 412-531-0590 ext. 301

We support art in ministry at Tree of Life and especially prophetic painting. This is when the artist paints something directly associated with what is happening during the service or with what God is speaking to them. 13-year-old Abby painted this during our Pentecost evening service. She first got the basic idea for this painting during the morning baptism service, when the worship team sang "baptize us in the holy spirit, baptize us in fire," and the rest came together during the evening service, when they sang "holy spirit come like a flood, like a fire." To her, the painting represented fire raining down from the clouds. What does this painting speak to you? Comment below.

Every day, little hearts are learning important lessons.

Through stories, songs, laughter, and moments like these, children at Tree of Life are learning they are loved, valued, safe, and cared for by their community.

The heart of Tree of Life shines through the work happening at Brookline Sprouts every day. Creating a place where children can grow in confidence, wisdom, and trust while knowing they are deeply cared for every step of the way.
