Day 1: Main sermon takeaway carousel caption
Are we actually following Jesus or just getting really good at managing the rules? In Matthew 5 through 7, Jesus is not handing out a spiritual personality test. He is showing us what a real Christian life looks like. We love the clear don't commands because they feel simple and measurable. But Jesus keeps pressing beneath the surface to our motives, our loopholes, and the places we explain away disobedience. He is not trying to get rid of God's commands. He is fulfilling them and inviting us into a different way to live. This week, slow down and let His teaching confront your heart, not just other people's Christianity.
Day 2: Exact quote post caption
"When we are given a law, we are then held accountable to that law, and since we don't like being held accountable to that law, we will do everything we can to develop a legal defense as to why we're not guilty about that law."
Sit with this. Where are you building a careful defense instead of a humble yes to Jesus?
Day 3: Reflection question for comments
If you are honest, which is easier for you: avoiding the obvious don't sins or actually doing the hard daily do this of Jesus? Most of us can say we have not murdered anyone or robbed a store this week. It is much harder to face the anger, greed, judgment, or indifference that still lives in our hearts. Jesus cares about the whole picture, not just what we technically did or did not do. Take a minute, look at your own walk, and share in the comments: where do you most feel the tension between rule keeping and real obedience right now?
Day 4: Invitation to Sunday connecting theme to attendance
Two people can claim the same Jesus and completely cancel each other out while both feel like they are "keeping the rules." Jesus offers something better than that kind of culture war religion. In Matthew 5 through 7 He shows us what His way actually looks like in real life: in our homes, our politics, our money, our enemies. This Sunday we are going back into these chapters and asking not just what is allowed, but what is Jesus really forming in us. If you are hungry for a faith that is more than loopholes and labels, come walk through this with us.
Day 5: Prayer / next-step response
Jesus is not trying to trap you in technicalities. He is inviting you into a whole new way to live. Maybe you feel stuck between what you know the Bible says and how you actually live. Maybe you have been more focused on other people's Christianity than your own. Today, begin with this simple prayer: "Jesus, I want Your yoke, not my loopholes. Show me where I am managing rules instead of following You." You do not have to sort this out alone. We want to walk with you, pray with you, and help you take a real next step with Him.
Save this and join us Sunday as we keep walking slowly through Matthew 5 to 7 together.
