We got to participate in the Carrick High School back to school event tonight. It was nice to meet a lot of people and we got to talk to the new principal.

Awesome night of ministry. We ministered and fed the football players after practice. Mike gave a good message about the importance of community, love, and forgiveness. Thankful for the opportunity to work with these kids. Inner city kids have so much against them, and when you show how much you care for them, they appreciate you.

We had a pizza party up in Carrick for the community this afternoon. Mike took the opportunity to talk to the kids about our programs and what we are doing with Pittsburgh South Alliance Church. Many parents talked to us and this summer we have made some strong relationships. Praise God always.

We gave out 128 hot dogs, 120 freeze pops, and 48 bomb pops combined at Carrick and Brookline tonight. Brookline parents were asking us about what we do and thanking us. We told them that we are there to serve the community and will be having meetings starting in the fall. People were grateful and telling us they look forward to seeing us.

Building relationships is important in ministry. These kids love when they see Good Bruthaz Mike coming. It was a hot day today, but rewarding to see the kids.

We have really had a great time getting to know the people in Brookline. Cole Carpenter brought some friends from YWAM Pittsburgh to join us. They are asking about us and what we do. Telling them about our ministry and how we work with the youth and the community. Also, about what we have been doing in Carrick. It’s been a great blessing.

Kicked off our Brookline outreach tonight. Along with Cole Carpenter we talked to the staff at the Moore Park pool. We talked to the manager and the staff and told them what we were all about. He said he was happy to have us there and anything that would help the kids, he was for. Thankful for favor. God is good.

We kicked off our summer parks outreach in Carrick today. Mike told the kids to make good safe decisions. This is the hardest time for the kids. A lot of kids are unsupervised in the summer. The lifeguards and rec center staff were happy to see us. God is good. Tomorrow we kick off our Brookline campaign.

We asked the kids tonight about how they reacted when confronted with violence. This young man TJ talked about the time he was confronted with a kid who first was joking around and then pulled a knife out on him. He said he told the kid he didn’t want anything to do with it. He also talked about how a kid tried to force him to v**e and when he didn’t the kid made fun of him. Several of the kids talked about their stories and making good decisions. We told them the best decision they could make is letting Christ guide them and we prayed with hem after to accept Christ. It was a great night.
