C was planted in 2004. We have always been located in the South Side of Pittsburgh. We are connected to both the Presbyterian Church USA and the United Methodist Church. We believe we are an imperfect people coming together to find ways to reflect God's perfect love to the world around us. We believe we find that perfect love expressed fully in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Jesus' greatest command was to love God and love others. We rely on the Holy Spirit to guide, lead, and encourage us in this work of love. We are on an intentional journey toward God through Jesus Christ where we shoulder the burdens, share the risks, and celebrate the joys, of participating in the mission of this community. All are welcome to join God's mission of love as it is expressed here at Hot Metal. We are an affirming congregation and welcome LGBTQ+ folks into all aspects of our church life together.

Service is worship and will be our gathering this week. Early birds can arrive at 7 AM to get coffee brewing and set up. The rest of us can show up at 8 AM. By 9:30 we'll have a brief time of conversation and prayer before cleaning up.

This Tuesday kicks off our month of creative gatherings in place of Sunday mornings as usual. If online suits you better than in person gatherings across the city, there is a space for you every Tuesday.

Throughout September, we will explore a variety of creative expressions of church: shared meals, justice work as worship, singing with abandon, and meaningful conversation.

You won't find Hot Metal in its usual place on Sunday mornings, and that's the whole point. It’s one month dedicated to discovering what helps us become more fully alive as a community.

We just weren't meant to splash, friends. We have to once again cancel Swimshoes Sunday in order to keep everyone safe and healthy in the midst of the wildfire smoke. It's a bummer, but YOU are more important than sprinklers every time.

We will still gather at the Spartan Center this morning as usual... PLUS we are not canceling our pizza order, just rerouting it to meet us at the Spartan Center. See you at 10:30!

Please take good care of yourself. This work calls for us to show up again and again, and taking a break when the air is unsafe is part of making sure we can.
