A big congratulations to our Director of Music!!

"I’m excited and honored to have been awarded Second Place, Distinguished Catholic Composer of the Year by the Association of Catholic Publishers.

Aside from a few more recent commissions, many of my early compositions began through my work at St. Bernard Church (now part of St. Michael the Archangel Parish). I never intended most of them to be published, but wrote them for practical purposes — a Gloria in D Major to coincide with the ringing of the church bells, a Fanfare and Alleluia incorporating chant and orchestration, or a wedding motet for two good friends.

Each time a new work is accepted for publication, it brings me great joy. One of the greatest delights is receiving recordings of my pieces being sung by groups I might never have expected.

Thanks to everyone who has supported me along the way, to those who have listened to or performed my music, and especially to GIA Publications, Inc. for the nomination and for their continued support of my work."

We're hitting the road!

Members of the Schola will be presenting a 45-minute program for the Millvale Music Festival on Friday, May 15th, at 4:30 p.m. at St. Nicholas Church in Millvale. The program, inspired by the iconic Vanka murals, will include Gregorian chant and motets by Palestrina, Allegri, and Victoria. Admission is free (with goodwill offering). We hope to see you there!

So much Easter joy! We were thrilled to host Frédéric Blanc on our Concerts on the Casavant Series yesterday! As part of the program, he improvised on Gregorian chant melodies sung by the parish schola in Duruflé's Quatre Motets sur des thèmes grégoriens. Thanks to all for joining us for this terrific concert!🤘

Join us on Tuesday at 7:30 PM and be transported to an evening in Paris as internationally renowned French organist Frédéric Blanc performs stunning works by fellow countrymen Louis Vierne and Charles Tournemire, along with a special tribute to the incomparable Maurice Duruflé, joined by members of the parish’s St. Gregory the Great Schola Cantorum. 🎶Admission is free, all are welcome!

Concerts on the Casavant: Frédéric Blanc began improvising at the piano and the organ very young, and discovered music... 🙃 and then became the foremost interpreter and disciple of Duruflé's work through his early studies with Marie-Madelaine Duruflé (as well as André Fleury and Marie-Claire Alain). As part of the program, Blanc will be improvising on Gregorian chant melodies sung by the St. Gregory the Great Schola in Duruflé’s Quatre Motets sur des thèmes grégoriens.
