We are honored to invite you to the BALA Live Exhibition โ€” a culminating celebration of the Building a Living Archive project, presented by teachers and student researchers from the School District of Philadelphia.

๐Ÿ“… Saturday, June 6, 2026
โฐ 11:00 AM โ€“ 2:00 PM
๐Ÿ“ Mother Bethel AME Church
419 S. 6th Street ยท Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

This exhibition is a community celebration of history, memory, and the power of the stories we carry together. Join us as our teachers and student researchers make visible the contributions of Black Philadelphians โ€” past, present, and future.

Through research, oral histories, and archival work, students and educators have spent months building a living, breathing record of Black life and leadership in Philadelphia. On June 6, that work comes to life.

This event is free and open to the community. We warmly welcome educators, families, scholars, community members, and all who believe in the power of story and history.

BALA is made possible through the generous support of the Spencer Foundation, in partnership with Penn GSE, the Philadelphia Writing Project, The Colored Girls Museum, the School District of Philadelphia, and Morgan State University.

We hope to see you there.
