Mother Bethel AME Church, in collaboration with The Colored Conventions Project, Center for Black Digital Research, , is hosting the 2026 Colored Convention Conference at Mother Bethel AME Church, commemorating the birth of the Colored Conventions Movement at Mother Bethel in 1830 and exploring the enduring legacy of Black freedom movements from the nineteenth century to today.

Scholars, artists, students, faith leaders, and community members will gather in this special place for three days of conversation and community centered on learning about the heritage surrounding the Colored Convention, the importance of Black history, and civic action in the ongoing pursuit of freedom and justice.

Registration opens soon! Additional conference details, featured speakers, and programming will be announced in the coming days.
