The feast of Saint Justin Martyr is celebrated on June 1st.

Saint Justin Martyr is an early Church martyr who lived from about AD 100 to 165 and wrote several significant Christian apologetic works. St. Justin was a convert to the Catholic faith, philosopher, and is famous for his idea of the "seeds of the Word" found throughout all of God's creation. St. Justin explains that all things are created by God and that there are seeds of God's truth found in all things. This allows Justin to confidently seek the truth present in other philosophies and even the pagan myths and draw out what is true and good and relate it to the Word—Jesus Christ.

This Memorial Day, we remember with gratitude the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice reminds us of the cost of freedom and the importance of faith, courage, and selfless love.

As we gather with family and friends this holiday weekend, may we also pause to pray for all who have served, for those currently serving, and for the families who carry the memory of loved ones lost.

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord,
and let perpetual light shine upon them.
May they rest in peace. Amen.
