"Then Peter came and said to him, 'Lord, if another member of the church sins against me, how often should I forgive? As many as seven times?'

Jesus said to him, 'Not seven times, but, I tell you, seventy-seven times.'" - Matthew 18:21-22

In light of the commandment to extend forgiveness, we pray:
Forgiving God,
even when our hearts are hard and calloused, you continue to pursue us with grace and forgiveness.
As we reflect on your perfect love,
may we see where we are withholding forgiveness, and where we fail to admit we need forgiveness.
Open us to the fullness of your love in Christ.
In Jesus, we pray.
Amen.

In remembrance of September 11, 2001:

O God, our hope and refuge,
in our distress we come quickly to you...

We come remembering those who lost their lives
in New York, Washington D.C., and Pennsylvania...

We come remembering
and we come in hope,
not in ourselves, but in you...

In commemorating this tragedy,
we give you thanks for your presence
in our time of need
and we seek to worship you in Spirit and in truth,
our guide and our guardian. Amen.
