Check out the new Facebook home of the Our Lady of the Lakes Capital Campaign!

In coordination with the Diocesan Plan and Bishop Sirba, the leaders of our three churches explored how one priest can best serve our parish’s worship, education, and fellowship needs and determined the best solution for our new parish.

Do you have any used soccer cleats laying around? We're looking for soccer cleats of all sizes (small youth to adult) to donate to a sports ministry in South Africa. If you don't have cleats, but would like to help out, we're also bringing mission balls (the ball in the center) which is a soccer ball imprinted with gospel messages. We're looking for donations for purchasing these balls as well. There will be a box at the back of St. Chris or you can contact Kathy Nelson at (612)865-3485. [email protected] - Thank you!

We celebrated mass at the hotel in Miami with Father Mike. It was a very nice, personal mass. Tomorrow, we finish our journey home. We are all looking forward to being back. Although, today we are appreciative of air conditioning, beds, clean floors, showers, and meals that aren’t chicken!

Our last day in Grenada. We enjoyed a day of snorkeling and the beach as a celebration of a week of hard work and sacrifice. It was a lot of fun!

It has been an honor to take these youth on this trip. They have been an excellent group that has worked hard, had integrity and respect, appreciated a new culture, joined in worship and praise, led mass with the bishop, didn’t complain about our living conditions, loved and played with the kids here, and just been all around joys to be on this mission trip with.

To their parents-you should be very proud of the young men and women you are raising!

To the parish reading this-these kids represented our parish well!

Tomorrow, we head home. It is a 2 day journey. Please pray for our safe travels and thanks to all of you for your support!

Final workday. The day flew by. We were all different places again. A couple groups painted homes, one painted part of the school we r staying at, a couple kids with the medical team went to a home for the disabled, and other sites.

This evening we had community mass with the bishop. Our group had previously signed up to do mass, so we did the readings, the petitions (which our kids wrote), the day psalm, communion, etc. and Fr Mike assisted with mass. We really had just about our entire crew a part of mass tonight.

I have thoroughly enjoyed the journey with this group of youth. They have been a joy to be with. They are respectful, kind, hard working, up for any challenge (like when their leader signs them up for mass and then we find out it’s a big mass, not a Small morning mass). They have worked, sweated, and cried this week. They have played for hours with neighborhood kids that adore them. They have worshipped in new ways. They hopefully have deepened their faith and seen different ways to worship.

They have put up with Heat and humidity with no AC, sleeping on floors, outdoor showers, sometimes no showers, mice (his name is Timmy), just to name a few. And through it all, I rarely heard a complaint.

To the parents whose kids I had the joy to take, you have wonderful kids.

To our church, we have some great kids in our church. They are our future.

Our work here came to an end today. We worked hard, we worshipped hard. Please ask the youths from the trip about their experience when we get home.

Thank you for your support and prayers to help make this trip possible!

Your generosity and support are what got us here!
