Our hearts were so full to have Juli visiting us here in the USA! ❤️ What a blessing it was to spend time together, share memories, laugh, and create new ones. The miles between us may be many, but the bond we share through faith, friendship, and family is stronger than any distance.

We loved every moment of your visit, Juli, and we are already looking forward to the next time we see you. Safe travels and know that you will always have a home and family with us. 🇺🇸❤️🇨🇴

Mission Moment Monday ❤️💙💛🇨🇴💇‍♂️

Last week on Throwback Thursday, we shared Duvian’s story and the barber supplies that Mission Colombia helped provide so he could begin learning a trade and building a brighter future.

This Mission Moment Monday is the perfect follow-up.

When our team was in Colombia this April, Fr. Jason decided it was time to put those supplies to use. Since he has only had one haircut since COVID, he sat down in Duvian’s chair and became one of his very first customers.

That’s the Mission Colombia way.

We don’t simply buy supplies and hope they get used. We walk alongside our family in Colombia. We encourage them, support them, and most importantly, show them that we trust them.

With a little coaching from his grandmother Rubi and Becky, Duvian picked up the clippers and got to work. And he did a great job.

Sometimes mission work looks like sewing machines, community meals, or school supplies. Sometimes it looks like sitting in a barber’s chair and saying, “I believe in you.”

We’re so proud of Duvian and excited to see where this journey takes him.

Throwback Thursday ❤️

Back in 2022, Duvian was a young teenager with a huge heart and so much potential, but like many young people, he wasn’t always sure what his future would look like.

Now in 2026, it has been incredible to watch him grow into a dedicated and hardworking young man. Through the support of Mission Colombia, Duvian is now attending Barber School so he can learn a trade, provide for his family, and give back to his community.

Not only that, but he is also very active in the church, faithfully serving as a reader and acolyte. Watching his confidence, faith, and purpose grow over the years has been such a blessing. We are so proud of the young man he is becoming. ❤️✝️🇨🇴

One of the greatest blessings of Mission Colombia is the relationships we build with clergy and communities across Latin America. On our most recent trip, we were able to bless Padre Alcalá (Armando Alcalá), a priest connected to our Diocese who faithfully lives and ministers in Venezuela, with a new phone so he can begin livestreaming Masses, prayers, and messages of hope to his community and beyond.

Padre Alcalá is one of the kindest and most humble priests you could ever meet, always serving others with joy and compassion despite the many challenges his community faces. He also taught himself English by reading an English Bible and a Spanish Bible side by side, beautiful testament to his dedication, perseverance, and love for sharing the Gospel with others.
