This upcoming week marks two years of intentional outreach to those in addiction recovery! Thanks to your help and generosity, we have been able to distribute 430 Recovery Bibles within inpatient rehab facilities, prisons, and the Jackson County jail in the past 12 months. Over the full two years of this ministry, you've helped distribute 810 addiction Recovery Bibles!

“Why do you pass judgment on your brother? Or you, why do you despise your brother?” (Romans 14:10 ESV)



Greetings friends,



I was running pretty late on putting something together for the weekly… then I re-read our Epistle for Sunday. I couldn’t hardly pass this up.


I can hardly believe how polarized our society has become. And really on every issue. Well, maybe it is only on politics, but we have somehow politicized every conceivable issue. We, quite often, can’t have civil conversations with our (maybe once) friends or even family, because our disagreements turn into judgment, and we all become Puritans of some sort.


The same goes in Church circles, and I have not been immune from participating. Most Christians have historically recognized and agreed on the essentials of the faith as they’re contained in, for example, the Creeds. But we have a variety of strongly held opinions about how to interpret God’s Word. We seem to argue almost endlessly about just what is “disputable” and what is essential to our faith.


In our lesson, and the verses immediately preceding, Paul doesn’t condemn healthy disagreement about these issues. Nor does he reject a humble and respectful examination of others’ opinions. What he condemns is a kind of rejection that carries with it a condemnation of the opinion holders. There is room for loving disagreement about disputable matters. Paul, however, leaves no room for questioning another’s faithful reception of God’s amazing grace.


Paul adds that none of us live either for each other or “to himself, and none of us dies to himself. If we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord. So whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.”


We will all face the only judgment that counts… God’s final judgment. No matter what else it provokes, God’s final judgment will prompt our shouts of joy that God has already forgiven our sins. So, we can stop looking down on and judging each other. We can, instead, continue to look “up” to the heavenly realm to beg God, “Maranatha. Come, Lord Jesus.”

Sometimes, people don’t ask for help. ❤️

After an earthquake and then a powerful windstorm caused damage to the home of someone we know and love in Colombia, there was no request for assistance. No list of needs. No plea for help.

Just humility.

But part of loving our neighbors is noticing.

We saw the need, and we were able to say, “Let us help.”

That simple offer is possible because of you.

Every gift to Mission Colombia gives us the ability to respond when we encounter a need: sometimes with a meal, sometimes with supplies, sometimes with an opportunity, and sometimes by helping someone put their home back together after the storms of life.

This is what your generosity looks like on the ground. It allows us to see a need and meet it with the love of Christ.

“Let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.” — 1 John 3:18

Thank you for helping us be the hands and feet of Jesus in Colombia. 🇨🇴❤️🙏
