"Healthy Suspicion" - 1 John 3:24 - 4:6

There is a healthy level of suspicion that John is encouraging in the church in 1 John 4. Remember, people say and do all kinds of things in the name of God.....and in the name of the Holy Spirit! John thinks we need to be more scrutinizing in the spiritual realm.

When someone presents us with a picture of Jesus that seems "off" or distorted, that should raise a red flag! We need to look more closely and ask more questions. There are a lot of spiritual fakes out there.

It is not unloving or ungracious to exercise spiritual caution. There are more forces at work than the Holy Spirit, and the realm of evil is invested in distorting Jesus.

What was the unworkable picture of Jesus being pedaled in John's day? How do we "test" what we hear?

That's the topic for this video, so...

"Simple....but not Easy" - 1 John 3:16-23

There is a difference. Simple and easy are not the same thing, even though we might use them synonymously at time.

We back in 1 John Chapter 3. John will not disappoint, as this section reduces Christian reality to it's simplest elements. With so much complication, rules, traditions, sacraments, and so on.....how can I know if I am doing what I should be doing!

John will cut through the red tape and give us the simple truth, and it won't surprise you! You will see that being a Christian is really simple....but not easy!

No "easy button" here!

John's hope is that you will know, and find assurance. You won't have to wonder, feel condemned or feel guilty. You can have confidence that you are doing what pleases God!

What, simply, is being a Christian meant to look like? What if I struggle with guilt and doubt? Then you need to be attentive . God has something to say to you! So,...

"Maturity"

Without a doubt, that is the first word that comes to your mind when you see a picture of the 3 Stooges slapping each other! (Yeah... not, maturity for sure)

But what about "spiritual maturity?" How can we measure spiritual maturity?

Maturity as defined by the world and in culture (sets of behaviors) can often be faked. Spiritual maturity as defined by God, described in context by Paul, and sharpened through experience, failure, and trials, eventually reveals itself.

So, let's dive into Paul's letter to the Philippians and explore spiritual maturity - a necessary element in our journey with Christ. So...

Waiting on the Lord! - 1 Samuel 1:1-28 - Communion Sunday

We will be going through all of 1st Samuel chapter one! Our main theme will be "Waiting on the Lord".

The chapter zooms in on one family. A man named "Elkanah" and his two wives: "Peninnah" and "Hannah".

Peninnah can have children. Hannah can't. Hannah is heartbroken and desperately wants a child.
To make matters worse Peninnah gloats about the children she can have to Hannah all the time!
Hannah finds herself feeling broken and worthless. Wondering if she will ever have a child.
In the midst of pain, tears, and a feeling of worthlessness, she prays at the tabernacle.

If you have ever waited on the Lord for an answer, or are currently waiting on God for something...
..Then view and see!
