FYI…Water restrictions have been put in place due to drought in Louisa. Let us pray to God for help, for all good things including rain come from God. Zechariah 10:1: "Ask the Lord for rain in the springtime; it is the Lord who sends the thunderstorms. He gives showers of rain to all people, and plants of the field to everyone."

Louisa County has declared mandatory water restrictions for residents in the Zion Crossroads and Lake Anna areas amid an ongoing drought in Virginia.

Tonight, please join us for Grace & Glory's first Narrative Lectionary Bible Study at 7 pm on Zoom. It is led by our new pastor, Pastor Lou Florio. These (nearly) weekly group discussions help all participants prepare for Sunday worship; including our pastor. Your questions, insights, and stories might help inform his sermon! (Or, you can just listen if you wish. You will not be forced to speak.) The studies are independent of one another, so come as you wish. Hopefully, like many past participants at his previous congregations indicated, it might help increase your biblical literacy and your general comfort with scripture, help you get more out of worship, even encourage you in your daily life and bring you peace. In our first assigned Gospel text (Matthew 9:35—10:8 [9-23]), we will witness Jesus' earthly ministry expand. Moved by compassion by the needs of the crowds that surround him, Jesus invites others to help, the first Apostles. His ministry might have been holistic, but they were an eclectic bunch - just like the Church today! Each added something to his ministry, and it would not be long until more were invited, generation to generation, right through to today's Church. Tonight, *YOU* are invited to consider how Jesus might call us through our families and vocation to help heal the world and prepare for his return. Join us on Zoom. Members of Grace & Glory, check your email for the link. Not a member? Your welcome too! Just request the link in the comments or IM the church account. We often sense that something is amiss in our world and in ourselves. Sometimes it causes a sense of grief or dread. Who can we trust to help us? This is the link to Pastor Lou's sermon from last Sunday (text and video): https://open.substack.com/pub/pastorlouva/p/we-are-unwell

Today, the church commemorates Columba, died 597; Aidan, died 651; Bede, died 735; renewers of the church. - Columba, Aidan, and Bede, three monks from the British Isles, played pivotal roles in preserving knowledge during the Middle Ages. Their legacies remind us of the power of faith and education. Let us pray a prayer by Columba: Kindle in our hearts, O God, the flame of that love which never ceases; That it may burn in us, giving light to others. May we shine forever in your holy temple, Set on fire with your eternal light, even your Son, Jesus Christ, Our Saviour and Redeemer. Amen. (Image: icon of Bede)

When summer arrives, we tend to think things will begin to slow down. But in reality, this season can feel just as busy.

UPDATE- Pastor Lou has been advised that handbell rehearsals return next Tuesday evening (June 16). So, we will meet tomorrow (Tuesday, June 9, at 7 pm) as planned and an announcement will be made for future weeks by next Sunday. Thanks for your understanding as Pastor Lou continues to adjust to Grace & Glory’s established calendar and coordinates with ministry leaders.

Beloved Grace & Glory members,

Our new Lectionary Bible Study starts tomorrow night at 7 pm! It will be held on each Tuesdays (barring conflicts that come up) and use the same Zoom link each week which will be emailed you later today. (So, you might like to save it in your browser or elsewhere.)

During the approximately one hour to one hour and fifteen-minute discussion, I will share some insights on the next Sunday's assigned texts (most often focusing on the Gospel), helpful tips for better understanding and interpreting scripture on your own, and Church liturgy or history. Then, things open up for general discussion or questions. Although, no one is ever required to speak. In fact, this bible study is designed to be flexible. Come one, come as you can, or come each week! No preparation is required. And yes, your friends are welcome to join us, too. At my last congregation, participants commonly reported that they felt they got a lot more out of our services thanks to their participation. It also helps me. Your own insights, comments, questions and faith stories just might help inform my sermon the following Sunday.

Also, Helen Ida and Jean will offer a special history presentation after next Sunday's service. We will learn about Grace and Glory's first twenty-five years with the intended slide show. (Technical issues prohibited this at our anniversary luncheon.) "A picture is worth a thousand words," people say. Our history will come more alive for you next Sunday. Whether new with us or a charter member, this is our shared legacy. Let's celebrate it all year long and beyond. Please make every effort to remain in the sanctuary after worship. The presentation will begin immediately and lasts about twenty minutes.

And for the meatball on top, as posted on social media previously, we want to also sincerely thank all those who supported our family movie event, "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs," yesterday. Whether one or one hundred people attend, offering and publicizing such events affirm our loving commitment to the greater community as people see our posters, posts, or are directly invited. It helps people know that we are ready to always welcome them at our table. And when we seek to share God's love, life becomes full of pasta-bilities! The collection point for the Pasta with a Purpose food drive was also set up yesterday. Please bring your donations at any time through September. Place general donations of food under the table as designated. Pasta dinner related items (any kind of dried pasta, cans of pasta sauce without meat, boxes of macaroni and cheese, canned pasta meals such as ravioli or spaghetti, or gluten free pasta) go on top of the table or to the side as there is room. This will help with weighing donations for the contest.

And last but not least, once again, please make every effort to attend my installation service on Sunday, June 28, 2026, at 3:00 pm. I hope for lots of guests, and it would be good for us to make a good showing to help make them feel welcome. More news will come about the reception soon.

Let's work together to stick a fork in hunger! Our Pasta with a Purpose food drive is now under way. We have until God's Work, Our Hands Day, September 13, to dig in and help feed our neighbors. The winners of this Virginia Synod - ELCA sponsored event will be determined based on a comparison of total weight of items donated per average worship attendance at the reporting congregation. The three winning congregations will be awarded a $250 grant to a food pantry of their choice. Our efforts will benefit Monticello Area Community Action Agency or MACA. Can't make it to Grace & Glory due to travel or other issue? Worship with us from afar online? Nessun problema! (No problem!) Nonperishable items shipped through Amazon or another vendor may be sent to our office at 683 Thomas Jefferson Pkwy, Palmyra, VA 22963. On our first day, donations are already coming in. Grazie! (Thank you!) And for the meatball on top, we want to also sincerely thank all those who supported our family movie event, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, today.
