Holy Cross parishioners have demonstrated their generosity time and time again and the members of the Holy Cross Society of Saint Vincent DePaul (SVDP) are asking each of you to demonstrate that same generosity once again. Please keep a family in need warm this winter by donating your new or gently used clean coats and winter accessories (i.e. new hats, gloves, scarves, etc.) to this year’s SVDP annual coat drive.

We will be collecting your coat and winter accessory donations in the back of church on the following weekends before and after Mass:

Saturday, September 12 and Sunday, September 13
Saturday, September 19 and Sunday, September 20
Saturday, September 26 and Sunday, September 27

Members of the SVDP Society here at Holy Cross will be in the back of church during those weekends to help you with your donations. Or, you are able to drop off your coat giveaway donations at any of the four SVDP Omaha thrift stores; please label donations dropped off at a thrift store with the words Coat Drive.

The coat giveaways will occur at two different locations. The first will take place on October 10 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Assumption Church (5602 S. 22nd St.) The second will occur on October 24 from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Omaha Home for Boys (4343 N. 52nd St.)

OCIA Classes will begin September 9 and run through Easter. Attending the meetings is not a commitment to join the church; it is merely an attempt to explore what the church has to offer and to understand how it can lead everyone closer to God. (Maybe you have been a Catholic for many years and would like a little refresher on what the Church teaches yourself, you are encouraged to attend as well!)
