The Olean Baptist Church was established on April 19, 1894, in Olean, Missouri. We are a small church with a big heart. Open to all who wish to worship the Lord.

Services:
*Worship Services: Sundays 11:00am-12:00pm
*Sunday School(all ages) 10-11am
*Willow Creek Senior Apartments (106 Willow Creek Drive, Eldon Mo): weekly Bible study Mondays 11-12pm community room, all welcome. A unique 6 sided church was built in 1895 on the corner of High and Walnut streets. In 1948, a rock church was built on the corner of Clark and Locust streets, where services are still held today. We are a Bible based church striving to serve God. Sunday School classes are held every Sunday, 10:00am-11:00am. We offer classes for all ages. Worship Service followed by a sermon are also given every Sunday, 11:00am-12:00pm. Services led by Pastor Brother Bob Hoskins.

Hello friends and neighbors! I hope everyone is having a good week and enjoying our pretty fall weather!
This morning in adult Bible study, we started looking at James and made it to chapter 1:19, to be continued next week. We had a lively discussion, as we usually do. It is always interesting to share our thoughts and questions about Gods Word. Did you know James was the son of Mary and Joseph, making him Jesus’s half brother?
Today Brother Bob took his message from Luke 11: 5-13. This is a well known scripture:
Luke 11: 9-10
9 “So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.
10 For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.
God wants to hear from us. We must be persistent and believe He hears and answers our prayers.
We were all excited to see Erma Gunn join us in worship today. She is nicely recovering from her hip replacement surgery and we thank her friend Kathy for bringing her today.
We thank Hailley and Aaron for collecting our offering. We love it when our kids want to participate in our worship service.
In announcements we want to remind everyone our we**ie roast will be today at 5 pm. Next Sunday Nov 1 remember to turn your clocks back one hour.
Thank God for the many blessings he gives us and be a blessing to someone!

Olean Baptist Church Oct 18, 2026

Hello friends! We are thankful to gather together this beautiful Sunday to celebrate our Lord Jesus Christ. We are missing a few of our folks but also happy to reunite with some who have been away due to work schedules.
In announcements, this afternoon at 4 pm our new WMU( Women’s Missionary Union) will meet at Pat’s home. Lisa Hill is leading our group. Next Sunday, Oct 25 at 5 pm we are having a we**ie roast and costume contest. All are welcome to join us( costumes optional)
Brother Bob took his sermon from 1 Peter 1: 3-9. Peter talks about the Lord’s promise of the inheritance of eternal life to his followers. We believers will have trials in our life but we can trust our God that he will meet our needs.
Today we recognized Aaron Lennon’s birthday( #11). We thank Aaron and Holden Gunn for collecting our offering and praying over it. They also sat in our choir loft and helped with the congregational singing.
We have many on our prayer list. We do want to thank God for Erma Gunn’s successful hip surgery. She is recovering at a friends home in Jefferson City. We are also very thankful for such a good friend and her hospitality!
We hope everyone has a good week. Watch for opportunities to share God’s love. Let others see Jesus in you.

Hello all! Today we had another beautiful Sunday to gather together in our Lord’s house. We worship thru his Word, song and prayer. It is a powerful moment when the family of God can gather together. We are blessed.
We had several birthdays to recognize this week, Müzik, Genesis and William May and Taylor and Tyler Flaugher. Our youth really helped us out today in worship. A big thankyou to Genesis May for leading our singing
( acapella no less!) Müzik May and Holden Gunn collected our offering and prayed over it. Lee Zamarripa took the younger( preschool) kids downstairs for childrens church today after our song service.
We have many on our prayerlist with very serious illnesses. Keep the Karla Gier and Thorson families in your prayer as they grieve their recent loss of sweet Karla.
Brother Bob’s sermon was taken from Psalm 46 1-3 and Isaiah 54:10. We must trust and never forget that God is always present to help us, no matter how dark our world becomes. Our strength comes from God.
We ask that everyone has a blessed week. Be kind to yourself and one another. 💜

Hello friends!
Today is a beautiful, sunny October morning that the Lord has blessed us with. We welcome all who have come out to join us in worship. It looks like we have as many kids as adults here today. Two brothers walked here and tell us their home is 4 miles from the church! That is impressive.
The adult Bible study completed Ecclesiastes today. Brother Bob’s message was based on Galatians 1:6-10, which warns of those preaching a false gospel. The Lord says let those people be condemned. To demonstrate obedience to God’s directions, Brother Bob asked the youth to line up and march around the church( Jericho) 6 times and on the 7 th time the wall came tumbling down.
We were thankful to have a youth choir directed by Chatona Boggs and songleader Adrianne Barry. We also thank Will Abbott and Darrell Boggs for collecting our offering. And thankyou to Michael Abbott and Harold Sieling for serving the Lord’s Supper.
In announcements, our first WMU meeting will be Sunday Oct 18 at 4 pm at Pat’s home. On Sunday Oct 25 we will have a we**ie roast at 5 pm.
We also recognized 4 birthdays, Will Abbott, Darrell Boggs, Seth and Harold Sieling, Happy Birthday guys!

Hello friends! We hope everyone is enjoying the cooler weather. We had a great time of study and worship on this beautiful Sunday morning. The adult Bible class is working our way thru Ecclesiastes. It is not an easy book to understand, written by King Solomon, known for his great wisdom.
We thank our two young men Sam Abbott and Holden Gunn for collecting our offering and Holden for praying over it.
In announcements, next Sunday Oct. 4 we will observe the Lord’s Supper. On Sunday Oct 18 at 2pm we will have our first WMU meeting (Women’s Missionary Union) at Pat McCreery’s home. And on Sunday Oct 25 we will have a church wide we**ie roast/ games, costumes optional. Time tba.
This afternoon 9/27 2-4pm is the Celebration of Life for our friend Gladys Kelly( at Phillips Funeral Home)
Brother Bob’s sermon was taken from Luke 8:4-15, the Parable of the Sower. This is about the seed (word of God) is sown on pathways, rocky, thorny and/or good soil. This is like the hearers of the word, some words fall on deaf ears. The scripture says "whoever has ears to hear, let them hear”.(v. 😎
Let us be the good soil. Let’s look for opportunities that God sends our way to do his goodwill, all day, everyday! Do I hear an amen?
