Rainey days and Sunday here at the OBC! It is spring, showers and storms are upon us. We need the water so we are trying not to complain, lol.
We had some folks missing today but we were able to carry on the Lord’s work with joy and enthusiasm. It was good to worship with Rachael Landon and her little man Jellybean again today. Rachael is here a few more days taking care of her mother’s business. It is good seeing her again. Her mother Ranae Campbell’s Celebration of Life was May 27. There was a full house of family and friends to honor Ranae and her family.
Brother Bob took his message from Proverbs 3:5-7.
It is a well known and loved scripture written by King Solomon, known for his wisdom. It is about surrendering all control to God. There should be nothing in our life that God isnt a part of. In everything we say and do, we should give God credit.
Thankyou to Darrell Boggs for collecting our offering and Harold Sieling for praying over it.
Next Sunday 6/7 we will observe the Lord’s Supper. On Sunday June 21 we will celebrate our Father’s and baptize Suzie Boggs.
We are having a one day Bible school Saturday July 11 at 3pm til ??. We will conclude with a we**ie roast.
Let’s reach out to the needy, the lonely and/ or those feeling hopeless this week. Tell them about Jesus if they dont know him yet.

Hello friends! Our God has blessed us once again with a beautiful Lord’s Day morning and it is also Memorial Day weekend. We hope everyone will stay safe and remember our military who gave all. We thank them for their ultimate sacrifice. As we all know, freedom is not free. Freedom in the next life is not free either. Jesus paid the price for us.
We are missing some of our "regular folks” who are working, traveling, and/or enjoying family reunions today. Sadly we have some ill and one in the ER as I write this. I ask our Lord to be with these folks that need comfort and healing. We were blessed with a new family visiting us today and sure hope they will return and worship with us again.
The adult Bible study class today examined Proverbs 31 called "The wife of noble character”. It gives us guidance to pattern our lives after. Good character is important when living a Godly life.
Brother Bob took his message from Romans 8:28-30 and 12:1-2. God wants the best for his believers and helps guide us in becoming more Christ- like. Likewise we should live our lives like a living sacrifice and resist the ways of the world. We cannot do this on our own but we can with God’s help
Today our pianist and song-leader had family obligations and could not be here. So, we improvised! Bro Bob and Halley Boggs led the singing with the help of our karaoke machine. It sounded pretty good. Halley is always willing to help whenever we ask.
We also thank Holden Gunn who prayed over the offering and Cooper Boggs for collecting the offering. We appreciate our young people, our future leaders. And thankyou to the adults who bring them here.
We loved seeing our old friend Rachael Landon, her nephew and her little man JellyBean today. Sadly Rachel is in town for her mother Ranae Campbell’s funeral. Her visitation will be May 27, 5:30-7:30 pm with service at 7:30 at Hedges-Scott-Millard Funeral Home, here in Eldon. Our condolences go out to Ranae’s family and her many friends. 💜
Everyone have a blessed week. Remember your neighbors.

There have been "dry spells” in our church( and other churches) when we werent blessed with the sound of children. Now we are happy to have 3-4 yr olds on up to “90 something” year olds. We are all God’s children. Jesus said " let the children come to me”. He loves the sound of kids in the church and we do too. 💜

a quick word of encouragement for those who're struggling with their little ones in church:

imagine that a couple hasn't been able to get pregnant.
for years and years, they pray that g–d would bless them with a child, and yet it seems that g–d is not hearing their prayers.
then, many years later, when they figured it was far too late, g–od opens that woman's womb and blesses the couple with a child.
so when that child cries at night, waking up his parents, what does his cry sound like to them?
it doesn't sound irritating or frustrating as it might to someone else.
that baby's cry sounds like the most beautiful music ever written.
because when that baby cries, that's the sound of his parents' prayers being answered.

for many years, there were no little children at a little church.
and throughout all those years, the saints of of this little church prayed that g–d would bless us to see families with little ones walk in their doors.
so when they hear little ones squawking and fussing and crying on sunday mornings, they're not irritated or frustrated.
they're overjoyed.
because that's the sound of their prayers being answered. now – this congregation is not alone in thinking this way.

so parents, don't give up.
the more consistently you show up on sunday morning, the easier it will get.
and the more you get to know the folks in your congregation, the more effective they'll be at helping you out.
keep coming.
keep fighting.
it's worth it for their sake, for your sake, and for the sake of the church, too.

just sayin'…

Sunday May 17, 2026

Hello all! Today, Sunday 5/17 was another glorious morning with the gathering of our family of believers. It is good to join together in worship, prayer and in song. We were still lower in numbers than we want but some had work obligations, and there is a virus in the air that a few have had to deal with.
Today we recognized our Mothers, a bit late but our gifts for them that we ordered on line did not arrive for the actual Mother’s Day. And like all flexible moms, they did not seem to mind. We had 11 moms present today!
We also recognized 2 of our 4 graduates. Suzie Boggs graduated from 8 th grade and Lane Hoskins graduated from high school. We are very proud of our young people.
Brother Bob took his sermon from Isaiah 41:10-20 and Romans 8:31. Isaiah talks about how God encourages us, how he strengthens us and holds our hands. Romans 8:31 includes the well known saying, "if God is for us, who can be against us?”. Botton line is God wants the best for us and will help us along our way.
We want to thank Holden Gunn for volunteering to pray over the offering and helping his friend Darrell Boggs collect the offering.
We hope everyone has a blessed week. We will be at Phillips Funeral Home on Tuesday May 19 for Malinda Henley’s funeral. Malinda was an important part of our church and the Eldon community for many years. She will be missed by all who knew her.
