FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What do I need to know as a prom attendee (or guardian)? Jesus Prom Mid Mo will throw a party for individuals with disabilities loving them like Jesus and relying on community volunteers and donations. Luke 14:12-14
What happens when I get there? You can expect to receive the royal treatment at Jesus Prom! With a red carpet entrance, photo opps, limo rides, food, game
s, face painting, entertainment, dancing, and hanging out with friends old and new, you will be sure to have a night to remember! If your guardian is not going to escort you, you will be paired up with one of our volunteer buddies who are ready to help you have a great time.
Why do I need to pre-register? Jesus Prom is growing each year, so to ensure you have a spot, we need you on our list! We need information from you that will help us make sure you are having a great evening. We will ask questions such as T-shirt size, food allergies or diet restrictions, your mailing address (so we can send pictures!) and more. I registered to go, but I can't go after all. What should I do? We hope that you have marked your calendar for this long-awaited night, but we understand that something may prevent you from attending. If that happens, please let us know immediately, as we have a waiting list of other prommers who would like to attend. You can send an email to [email protected], or call Ninth Street Christian Church at 573-392-4685. What should I wear? You may choose to wear anything you feel comfortable in. Some prom attendees wear T-shirts and jeans, some wear "Sunday best", semi-formal, or formal prom attire. Others choose to join in on the fun of the theme of the dance and wear fun costumes. What should I bring? Just bring yourself! You will not need money. Where is Jesus Prom located? Ninth Street Christian Church is our host for the event. 1009 McKinley Dr. Eldon, Mo 65026. Where will we park? Guardians will be directed to park in the paved and large gravel lots. Parking is limited, but we will have volunteers there to ensure you make it to the appropriate place. What time should I arrive? The event is from 5pm-8pm. As their guardian, should I stay with them? That is up to you. You can choose to escort your prommer through out the evening, or we will assign a buddy to them. Guardians who are not acting as an escort will be required to remain in the balcony of the gymnasium where they can sit and view the dance. You may choose to leave and return at 8:00pm for pick up. The assigned volunteer will escort your prommer back to your vehicle. If you choose to enter the building for any length of time, you will need to register and wear a wrist band. These procedures are due to fire safety codes. What if I don't feel like dancing? This night is all about you having a great time, whatever that may look like. There are plenty of different activities to fill your time with. Or if you just need a quiet spot to sit, we have that available too. Just let your buddy know what you want to do! Who can attend Jesus Prom? Anyone with disabilities age 13 to 100 in the Mid-Missouri area. If you still have questions, please email us at: [email protected]

As a volunteer, what do I need to know? FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
What is Jesus Prom anyway? Jesus Prom is a dance for our mid-Missouri friends with disabilities (age 13 to 100!). A night for us to celebrate them in a fun atmosphere. Be ready to experience limo rides, pictures, food, games, dancing, and the love of Jesus. We rely on support and donations from the community to make this happen each year. Where is this event located? Ninth Street Christian Church is the host of the event. It is located at 1009 McKinley Drive Eldon, MO 65026. Why do I need to pre-register? Jesus Prom is a large event, and we need to ensure that all duties are covered and that each prom attendee has a buddy. We also need to have a count of how many people will be in the building due to fire safety codes. I already registered, and now my plans have changed. Hopefully you have cleared your schedule and committed to this long-awaited day, but if for any reason you can't make it after all, please notify us immediately. We will need to find a replacement volunteer to cover your assigned duty. Call the church office at 573- 392-4685 or send an email to [email protected]. Can I bring my family? We need all the volunteers we can get! Please invite your family members to pre-register individually. However, we can only accept volunteers in 6th grade and up. Child care is not provided by the event, so please make arrangements for your younger family members. What time frame am I committing to? All volunteers can expect to be present the day of Jesus Prom beginning at 3:30pm and ending at 9:00pm.
What if I want to volunteer, but can not commit to that time frame in some way? If you know that you will not be able to be present for the entirety of the evening, please do not register to volunteer. This will cause gaps/shortages in help, as well as confusion. Each volunteer has a specific duty assigned to them, and if you are not present, that duty is not being taken care of. What does a buddy do? A buddy is the job title of the majority of our volunteers. This is someone who will be a prom attendee's partner for the evening. This may include dancing, eating, playing games, sitting in the quiet room, etc. You are the one that ensures the prommer is having a fantastic time. This is the coolest experience ever- you will be so blessed! What if I know who I want to buddy up with ahead of time? That's great! The best thing you can do is to be ready and waiting for your person to arrive at the door. We will have a separate buddy line just for those of you who know who you are going to be paired up with. As a volunteer, you will be on your feet most of the time, so wear comfortable shoes. Jeans and your Jesus Prom T-shirt will be fine, or you can choose to dress according to our theme in fun, colorful attire/costumes. (You may quickly change into your T-shirt upon arrival). What should I bring with me? Due to the nature of the evening, you should leave all personal possessions in your vehicle. No bags or purses will be allowed for volunteers, as we cannot ensure their security. You may choose to carry your cell phone and your car keys, of course. You will not need money except for the purchase of your Jesus Prom T-shirt if you choose. Also, bring your smile, and a fun, loving attitude!!! Do I have to purchase a T-shirt? No, but it is greatly appreciated, as the $15 you pay will not only cover the cost of your shirt, but the cost of a prommer's T-shirt too. You will receive and pay for the shirt upon arrival to the event. You may choose to wear it or take it to your vehicle. Where should I park? Because of the growing popularity of this event, parking space is becoming more limited. Please carpool with other volunteers or get dropped off if at all possible.
