Thank you to all of our volunteers who came to the church workday on Saturday to spruce up the campus so we are ready to welcome our summer musical audience. A huge shout out to Linda Criswell, Paige LeMieux, Ken Ward, and Leslie Ward! They weeded, trimmed bushes, power washed, planted flowers, and replaced the courtyard umbrellas. They worked so hard, and it shows! Thank you!!!

Thank you to everyone who came out to walk with the New Orleans United Methodists in the Pride Parade on Saturday. The crowd cheered, “Oh! The Methodists! YESSS!” and “Okay! We see you UMC!” Thank you for standing with the LGBTQ+ community - especially because the Church has caused and been the reason for so much of the harm to the LGBTQ+ community! And thank you for sharing God’s love with PRIDE!

Join us in worship at 9AM and 11AM as we continue our Joseph sermon series tied into our musical, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. We will dive into Joseph’s story - exploring what happens when God gives us a dream and then life moves in the exact opposite direction. Joseph receives visions of a promising future, but instead of rising, he is thrown into a pit, sold into slavery, and imprisoned. Like many of us, he must live in the difficult space between promise and fulfillment.

A huge thank you to Barbara Ferguson for serving as the St. Luke’s UMC delegate to Annual Conference. Annual Conference is the yearly gathering of United Methodist pastors and laity throughout the state to handle the business of the larger church and inspire ministry and mission in our local churches. Thank you for representing us well!

The theme this year was JOY! And what a joy it was to worship together and to learn together. We also celebrated the 70th anniversary of the ordination of women in the UMC!

Lauren Wright Pittman describes her painting, Through Him, All Things, saying, “In my image, Jesus is a prism. The light that comes from the Creator shines through Jesus, and it is through him that we can see the fullness and beauty of who God is. The rainbow also echoes the full spectrum of humanity and celebrates the image of God that is present—not only in every human, but in every facet of Creation."

Join us this Saturday, June 13 as we celebrate the rainbow of humanity and God’s creation at Pride Parade. The parade starts at 6PM. We will meet at 5:15PM on the sidewalk by the park on Elysian Fields between Royal and Dauphine St.
