A Message from Bishop Leake and Mrs. Leake
Greetings to the 160th Session of the Louisiana Conference. For 160 years the Louisiana Conference has been faithful to God and the A.M.E. Zion Church! It appears that the Louisiana Conference is the “Mother Conference” in the Southwestern Delta Episcopal District! To God be the Glory! What a milestone to celebrate! Missionary Supervisor Jean McMurray-Leake and I are delighted to share with you in our third Louisiana Annual Conference! God has been good to all of us.
We are grateful to Reverend Dr. John D. Forbes, Mrs. Delores Forbes and the Butler Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church of Amite, Louisiana for hosting us this week. The Annual Conference is a special time for prayer, worship, accountability, responsibility, through reporting, preaching, teaching, and fellowship. We praise God for Presiding Elder Kenneth York and his wife, Mrs. Abigail York and Presiding Elder Ernest Peters and His wife, Rev. Gwen Peters and all the faithful pastors, ministers, of the Louisiana Conference! We are grateful for all of your hard work, witness, and worship in the name of the Lord!
The people of Louisiana are a special and dedicated people. We are grateful to each lay person, local church, district, and conference officer for all that you do to advance the Kingdom of God through the A.M.E. Zion Church. Thank you for being faithful to God and Zion! It is our hope and prayer that this week we can really learn what it means through the third component of the Quadrennial theme to: Securing our Future. In times like these we must Secure our Future through Jesus Christ! Please pray with us that we will serve this present age, our calling to fulfill!
Peace and Blessings,
Bishop Eric Leake, Presiding Prelate, Southwestern Delta Episcopal District
