With this afternoon's Vigil Masses, our Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New Orleans enters into a deeper covenant of love with God through celebrating the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

Our parishes, our homes, our families, and our community makes a pledge to live a life that echoes that of Jesus, with the heart-felt plea for Him to "guide and bless our every undertaking, both spiritual and temporal, ward off all dangers, sanctify our joys and lighten our sufferings."

As , let us do our best from this day forward to have hearts that love like Jesus and beat in unison with His Sacred Heart.

Glory to the Heart of Jesus, our personal King and Friend!

, as we near closer and closer the consecration of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New Orleans to the Sacred Heart of Jesus this weekend, let us also hold close to our hearts today's Feast - the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

Through this devotion, we honor the interior spiritual life, virtues, joys, sorrows, and profound love of the Blessed Virgin Mary for God and humanity. Like her son, our Blessed Mother's Immaculate Heart has endured hardships [the swords that Simeon foretold at the Presentation] and through it all is aflame with a pure love for you and for me.

As we unite our hearts to Jesus' Sacred Heart, may God stir in all of us a desire to draw closer to the Lord through Mary and her Immaculate Heart.

Today is Day 4 of the Novena of the Sacred Heart in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New Orleans . We continue this beautiful nine-day period of deeper prayer leading to the Feast of the Sacred Heart and Consecration of our Archdiocese and homes on June 14th!

As we unite our hearts to the Sacred Heart of our adorable, loving, merciful Savior:
🙏What prayers are you personally asking the grace for?
🤰🏾👶🏽👵🏼We prayed as a community for the Defense of All Human Life. What causes defending human life that are near and dear to your heart do you ask the Lord to unite with His Sacred Heart? Which causes do you need the eyes of His Heart to better understand and find the courage to witness to?

Sacred Heart of Jesus, we place all of our trust in You.

This weekend, all of our parishes in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New Orleans have been asked to pray through the Sacred Heart for the faithful departed as we prepare for Archbishop Checchio to consecrate the archdiocese to the Sacred Heart of Jesus next Sunday, June 14th in communion with the U.S. Catholic Bishops who will do so for the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States.

We hold our beloved dead close to our hearts and hope that their souls are experiencing eternal rest and perpetual light. For those in heaven, may they intercede to the Lord for our needs.

For the souls in purgatory, may our prayers - especially the ones we offer this weekend - help to complete their purification.

May we one day be reunited in the halls of Heaven.

We encourage you to take part as fully as you are able—especially through prayer at Mass.
