Is today your birthday? Well, you've got some great company...like the Pope!

A very Happy Birthday to Pope Leo XIV! May God continue to bless the Holy Father with many more years of good health as he shepherds the faithful of the Catholic Church.

Today, we celebrate the Exaltation of the Holy Cross. Jesus embraced his cross, a device meant to embarrass, torture, and kill, and through his death lifted it to become the sign of our salvation, healing, and new life. From this Cross, Christ's Sacred Heart was pierced and, as we pray in the Divine Mercy Chaplet, "Blood and Water...gushed forth as a fountain of mercy for us."

May we find renewed strength today to grow deeper in love with the Lord and His Sacred Heart and bear the crosses we face in our lives.

, here's to a great season for the ! ๐Ÿ‰โšœ๏ธ Let's hope for a successful campaign, a healthy roster, and the hope that we'll celebrate a championship on Valentine's Day!

May we remember that our life is "Saints training camp:" to be holy men and women in heaven with The Saints one day. May our time in the 'Dome or in front of the TV cheering these Saints on lead us to strive for our heavenly team. โšซ๏ธ๐ŸŸก๐Ÿ˜‡

On this 23rd Sunday in Ordinary Time, we are invited to consider how we embrace and extend forgiveness in our lives. Through the Gospel, Jesus teaches Peter, the apostles, and His disciples, including us, that God's love and mercy overflow abundantly.

We have sinned. We will sin. Time and again, we turn to the Lord to seeking forgiveness and receiving absolution through the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

The next step for us, , is to resist acting like the servant in Jesus' parable and instead to be merciful to others.

Being merciful does not mean that you are never angry at someone, especially if that anger is warranted from the wrong committed against you. It doesn't mean we let others take advantage of us. Rather, it means we are called to understand where the other person is coming from, remember the core love that unites us as brothers and sisters, and and, as we reflected on last week, not let our hearts become hardened but open to permit God to work through us as instruments of His mercy.

This is a radical love at the heart of the Gospel. May the Sacred Heart of Jesus make our hearts tender to know and show mercy.

Tomorrow, September 13th is both Grandparents Day and the World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly in Catholic churches and dioceses throughout the United States.

Since its creation in 2021, the World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly has
grown into a cherished tradition that teaches communities to truly value the
elderly, not through occasional gestures, but as a permanent, central part of our
lives. This celebration helps us appreciate older generations as vital keepers of our
history, witnesses to our faith, and teachers for our lives.

This year, the global Church places a special emphasis on closeness to others. If you're lucky enough to still have your grandparents with you, give them a call or visit them tomorrow or sometime this week. If your grandparents have passed on, perhaps you can "spend time" with them in prayer at an Adoration Chapel or offering your rosary for the repose of their souls and the gratitude of their place in your lives.

Let this Day be a tangible opportunity for everyone โ€” especially young adults like you โ€”to spend time with your grandparents, the elderly in their families, and most importantly, those who are completely isolated.

Today, the Church celebrates the Feast of the Holy Name of Mary.

The Roman Martyrology teaches us that this day is important to celebrate the Holy Name of the Blessed Virgin Mary as Catholic Christians because it is "a day on which the inexpressible love of the Mother of God for her Holy Child is recalled, and the eyes of the faithful are directed to the figure of the Mother of the Redeemer, for them to invoke with devotion."

When we recite the Divine Praises, we proclaim "Blessed be the name of Mary, Virgin and Mother." May we turn to Mary with her holy name often so that she may hear our praises and prayers and bring them all to her beloved Son, our Lord Jesus Christ.

As a nation & community, we remember the events of September 11, 2001, as well as the lives lost and affected over the years by this act of violence, on this its 25th anniversary.

May we find comfort in the Sacred Heart of Jesus and may the God of mercy, compassion, and hope wipe away every tear.
