In 1966 Trinity lost its building to Interstate 94 construction.

Trinity Lutheran Congregation is a community of faith
that has worshiped and actively engaged in the Cedar-Riverside neighborhood since 1868. A Reconciling in Christ congregation, Trinity cofounded Augsburg College and Fairview University Hospital and codeveloped an innovative, mixed-income 85-unit urban housing complex. Our current mission is to help break down the walls of racism, sexuality, eth

nic origin, economic status and religion. The mission-minded congregation voted to use its resources in active outreach to the Cedar-Riverside community rather than investing in a new church building. The lack of conventional church walls frees us to tear down walls that can separate us from effective service to God and each other.

We are honored to share that our own Pastor Jane will be receiving the 2026 Confessor of Christ Award from the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago (LSTC) on May 16.
This year, the LSTC faculty chose to honor the people of Minnesota who demonstrated deep, sacrificial love for their neighbors during Operation Metro Surge. The award recognizes the countless everyday people who put their faith into action, organizing and standing in solidarity to resist unjust tactics and defend the dignity of our community members.
Pastor Jane is receiving this award alongside Rev. Hierald Osorto and Rev. Ingrid Rasmussen. The three of them are being recognized as representatives of the many church leaders, congregants, and ordinary Minnesotans who showed extraordinary courage when our community needed it most.
We are deeply grateful for Pastor Jane’s leadership, and we give thanks for the broader community of Minnesotans who continue to fight for justice, due process, and humanity.

A Statement from ELCA Presiding Bishop Elizabeth Eaton: Bishop Sani Ibrahim Azar of the ELCJHL, my colleague and our brother in Christ, has issued a statement that I echo. As the ELCA, we join our ecumenical and global partners in “condemn[ing] in the strongest possible terms not only this latest attack on civilians at Al Ahli Hospital, but all attacks against hospitals, clinics, and other places of healing in Gaza,” as well as the repeated evacuation of already-vulnerable people.
