Minnesota Hillel

Minnesota Hillel Inspire every student to make an enduring commitment to Jewish life, learning & Israel.

Since 1940, Hillel at the University of Minnesota has been a home to the Jewish Students on campus, empowering them to build a positive sense of Jewish identity. Hillel also serves as a Jewish resource for university students of all faiths and backgrounds. Hillel's mission is to establish a friendly and welcoming environment where students from different backgrounds can explore Jewish heritage, cu

lture, and tradition. With a very active student board guiding its programming, Hillel consistently strives to bring students together in a community centered on Jewish life, providing the students of the university a safe, open, and comfortable place to study, meet friends, network, discuss, and learn about Judaism.

Incoming students, this could be YOU this summer at the Great Minnesota Get Together 🎡🌽🍪

Last summer, our first-year students took on the Minnesota State Fair together. They tried iconic fair foods, went on rides, played games, and made new friends before classes even started.

There’s no better way to kick off your first year and meet fellow students!

Celebrating the Class of 2026 🎓✨

We loved gathering with our graduating seniors and their families for this year’s Senior Brunch! The morning was filled with special moments, a meaningful blessing from Rabbi Jill Avrin, delicious food, graduation cords, and plenty of photos by our iconic mem statue.

We are so proud of everything our seniors have accomplished over the past four years, and cannot wait to see what comes next. Mazel tov, graduates!

Every year, there are students who help shape what Minnesota Hillel becomes. From leading programs and building community to showing up for others in big and small ways, this year’s award recipients went above and beyond to inspire, lead, and make Hillel stronger for everyone around them. We were proud to celebrate these students at The Memmys (Leadership Appreciation Night) and Maroon & Gold Shabbat.
With only a few hours left in Global Giving Week, we’re reflecting on the people who make this community what it is. All gifts are still doubled, and your support helps students continue to grow as leaders, build community, and create meaningful Jewish experiences on campus. From Israel programming to the Israel Learning Fellowship, this year created space for students to ask hard questions, hear new perspectives, and build connection through shared experiences. The learning mattered, but so did the sense of community that came with it.
Naamah, one of our student leaders, shared: “I show up to Israel events because they challenge me in a good way. They push me to think, connect, and truly show up for my community. Birthright was a super fun way to connect meaningfully with my Hillel community in a place that means a lot to me!”
Today is the final day of Global Giving Week. All gifts are still doubled, and your support helps create spaces for conversations, learning, and connection like these. Make your gift to sign our yearbook at give.hillel.org/minnesota26

Building community-minded leaders starts with opportunities to give back. Ali shared: “My favorite part of being on the Social Action team is not only being able to help the community, but doing it alongside my friends. I’m grateful for the opportunity to plan events that support both members of Hillel and the broader Minneapolis community, including the Hillel Thrift, volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House, and donating to PRISM Minneapolis.”
This Global Giving Week, your support helps students turn their values into action. All gifts are doubled this week. Give today at give.hillel.org/minnesota26

Some of the most meaningful moments start with a conversation. Through the Jewish Learning Fellowship, students come together to ask questions, challenge ideas, and learn from one another in meaningful ways.
Dina, the JLF Ambassador shared: “I’ve found it especially meaningful when quieter students speak up to share their takeaways from sources or to build off of another’s comment. I am so impressed by how the fellowship has a palpable sense of community, of support, and a commitment to learning.”
As Global Giving Week continues, we’re thinking about what it takes to create spaces like these. All gifts are doubled during Global Giving Week. Give today and help write what comes next. give.hillel.org/minnesota26
