Where was the origin of the official authorization of Jesus' teachings and works?
The religious leaders in rejecting Jesus' authority seek to scrutinize His credentials in seeking to discredit Him or charge Him with blasphemy.
if Jesus admits that He was not credentialed through established institutions, He can be discredited. If He claims He received authority from God in heaven, they can charge Him with blasphemy.
Jesus' strategy it to reveal their hearts ad motivation for the question before He will answer their question.
