Grace Downtown Grace Downtown, or Grace Lutheran Church, is on the corner of Broadway and Juneau Ave. in Milwaukee. First and foremost, Grace is a Christian church.

Grace Lutheran Church

has carried out its downtown Milwaukee ministry since 1849. The congregation's first pastor, Johannes Muehlhaeuser, was trained as a missionary in German schools and came to America to serve the thousands of German immigrants who were flocking to the Midwest in the middle of the 19th century. Meeting at first on the west side of the Milwaukee River, the congregation built its first church building on the east side of the river, and has worshipped at the corner of Broadway and Juneau Avenue ever since the dedication of that building in 1851.

Head to the Greendale Chick-Fil-A (5351 S 76th St. Greendale, WI 53129) TONIGHT for Spirit Night!

We’re partnering with this specific Chick-Fil-A location to fundraise for nine Grace teens who are heading to our International Youth Rally to join with other WELS teens in worship, Bible study, and to gain Christian encouragement. Additionally, we have several teens participating in Mission Trips sponsored by several of our WELS schools.

If you’d like to support, encourage, and ease the financial burden that they are incurring in these efforts, consider enjoying some Chick-Fil-A at the Greendale location on June 23 between 4 and 7 p.m., where 10% of the profits will go towards the cause. When ordering your food in store or at the drive-thru, simply say, “I’m here to support the Grace Spirit Night.”

We were delighted to host the Siebert Lutheran Foundation last Thursday for a wonderful evening at Grace!

The event began in our Great Hall with dinner and an insightful presentation by Tim Larson on the history of Lutheranism including the important role Grace Lutheran Church has played in that story. Following the presentation, guests enjoyed a visit to our beautiful Sanctuary (pictured here) to learn even more about our congregation’s rich history and architecture.

Thank you to the Siebert Lutheran Foundation for choosing Grace as your event venue and for your interest in learning more about our church’s heritage. We enjoyed sharing this special evening with you!

Last night, soprano Natalie Ford and pianist Maggie Rebers treated us to a beautiful performance in our Sanctuary as part of our First Fridays Concert Series.

Grace is hosting three Mahjong nights this summer, each including open play time. Whether you have zero experience or have played for years, come by yourself or bring a friend. All equipment is provided, and game cards will be available for purchase (though not necessary). Space is limited to just 20 spots, so an RSVP is required. Feel free to join one, two, or all three sessions.
