Grace Downtown, or Grace Lutheran Church, is on the corner of Broadway and Juneau Ave. in Milwaukee. First and foremost, Grace is a Christian church.

Grace Lutheran Church

has carried out its downtown Milwaukee ministry since 1849. The congregation's first pastor, Johannes Muehlhaeuser, was trained as a missionary in German schools and came to America to serve the thousands of German immigrants who were flocking to the Midwest in the middle of the 19th century. Meeting at first on the west side of the Milwaukee River, the congregation built its first church building on the east side of the river, and has worshipped at the corner of Broadway and Juneau Avenue ever since the dedication of that building in 1851.

Doors Open Milwaukee 2026 is coming soon!

Grace is once again participating in this great event and needs your help...
This is a great outreach opportunity for many who visit our historic church. We’re looking for friendly greeters to act as building hosts and provide guidance - no historical knowledge is needed!
There are still numerous volunteer slots available for both Saturday, Sept. 26, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., and Sunday, Sept. 27, 11:30 a.m.-5 p.m.

Join Pastor Jacob Haag on Saturday, October 10, from 9-11 a.m. for a workshop on communication theory intersected with the Christian life.

Communication is a daily fact of life, but so many people don’t know how to communicate better. So often we communicate without thinking much about it—simply repeating the way we were brought up by our parents or the way we have observed with our friends or on social media. But what if there were a more research-based way to communicate?

This interactive workshop will explore Rogerian conflict resolution, social perception theory, and ethical dialogue through a biblical lens. Above all, participants will practice how to implement insights from communication theory in their Christian lives as friends, spouses, or parents.

Babysitting, coffee, and snacks will be provided starting at 8:30 a.m. The workshop will begin at 9 a.m.

On June 19, pastors from the Milwaukee area gathered with us to install Pastor Jacob Haag.

Their presence was a wonderful reminder of the fellowship we all share. Thank you to everyone who helped make the day joyful and memorable!

We’re very excited to have welcomed the Haag family to Grace! Pastor Jacob Haag was installed on June 19, and we are grateful to begin this new chapter of ministry together.

Flowers for Dreams/Flowers for Dreams Weddings did a wonderful job decorating our Sanctuary for a wedding we hosted back in July!

Take a look at the beautiful altar arrangements and the floral accents adorning the pews. These thoughtful details helped create a stunning setting for a joyful day of celebration.

Three nights of food, Bible study, hymns, and fellowship - what a blessing!

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this year’s Grace Bible Study Days. From Tuesday through Thursday, members of our congregation gathered in the Grace Center to grow in God’s Word, lift their voices in song, and spend time together.

Enjoy this video of our congregation singing the last verse of Jerusalem the Golden as we closed out the final evening.

A special thank you to all of the volunteers whose time and dedication made these three days possible. We are already looking forward to next year!
