Hello everyone,

It has been a very eventful season for Dawn and I. We are grateful for your prayers and we are truly thankful for each opportunity to serve the Lord. It all began with hosting our high school senior trip to New York City and Philadelphia. Then, to my graduation in Chicago. When I returned, I was off to preach at the Cowboy Camp meeting in Waterflow, New Mexico.

We then enjoyed finishing up our school year with graduation ceremonies. Next, we hosted our Spring Program winners on a trip to Bearizona and the Grand Canyon. We were back for one day and then left for family camp in Silver City, New Mexico. Then, we enjoyed the Memorial Day Picnic with our church family. In the midst of this, we had five memorial services for dear departed church members. Please don’t forget the service for Glenn Losey at 1 PM today.

Again, thank you for your consistent prayers, your constant support and your patience with us. We are glad to be home for a while as we pray for Junior Camp and prepare for Vacation Bible School. Life can become busy for all of us. In these busy seasons, it is so important not to lose sight of our priorities. My number one priority is always my daily time with the Lord. As many of you, I began each day with Bible reading and prayer. This is my anchor. Another priority for me is my family responsibilities. I certainly don’t want to leave them behind!

We are a busy church and I pray we will start each day with the Lord and each week by being in the house of God on the Lord’s Day. This will help us maintain our daily walk. My family and I look forward to seeing you and serving with you tomorrow. It is the one place we want to be more than anywhere else in the world. We love you.

Good morning everyone,

Tomorrow is Mother’s Day and I pray that all of our ladies will feel especially loved and appreciated. So many of you have played the vital role of mother to so many in need. You are important to our church family and are important to God. We have a special day planned for you tomorrow and I hope that you are able to join us.

My heart is full of memories from time spent with my own mother. For as long as I can, remember, she has sacrificed for me and shown me unconditional love. I certainly owe her a debt I can never repay. As we grow older together, I am more and more grateful for the mother of my children…my dear wife, Dawn. She never stops giving of herself. She has tirelessly invested in our family and I see the Lord Jesus in her. I love you with all my heart, sweetheart.

I am also very thankful for all the faithful ladies who serve at our church. You help to create such a positive spirit. You encourage, you nurture and you serve…often in the shadows. You are making an eternal difference and I know that God will reward you greatly. Please take time to remember, honor and express love to that important lady in your life. The Bible tells us to render honor to whom honor is due. Take advantage of this opportunity.

Please don’t forget to pray for the Robert Long family. The memorial service for Trevor will be held at the church at 1 PM today. In our 10 AM service tomorrow, we are happy to provide a special gift for every lady in attendance and we will recognize unique mothers. Also, we will have special music, videos, and a message given from my heart. Dawn and I love you all. See you in the morning.

Hello church family,

This week, I had the privilege to sit down with Jan Brown and her daughters to discuss details of the memorial service for their beloved husband and father, Henry. As is often the case, I learned so much about his life that inspired me. Both Henry and Jan were born and raised in Phoenix. They met as teens in a church youth group, but ended up graduating from a college in the San Diego area.

Shortly after graduation, they were married. They found an apartment where God arranged that their neighbors would be another young couple who were active members at a soul winning, independent Baptist church. These neighbors invited Henry and Jan to a church service and this changed everything! Soon they were saved, baptized and actively serving the Lord. This began a life pattern.

They moved to Indiana, but continued to serve the Lord. Henry served faithfully as a deacon, a Sunday school teacher and a church usher for the next 45 years! Jan was right beside him, serving as a Christian school teacher, church secretary, and a Sunday school department superintendent. Their daughters attended Christian schools, accepted Christ early and love the Lord today. Think about it, friend! It all started with an invitation to church from a neighbor…and all these years later, our church and the work of God still benefits!

Who could you invite to church for our annual Open House Sunday tomorrow? Is there a co-worker, friend, family member or neighbor? Your invitation could reap eternal benefits. We will provide tours of the church property, special gifts and bounce houses for the children. You don’t want to miss it! Also, please don’t forget the memorial service for another beloved church member, Lisa Martell, at 1 PM today. Dawn and I love you all and we look forward to seeing you soon!

Good morning everyone,

A local church like ours is a family. God designed it that way. We are brothers and sisters in Christ who receive our spiritual meals together. We laugh together, cry together and serve our Heavenly Father together. It is a beautiful thing! Best of all, this family of encouragement and support is good for every stage of life. Let me show you what I mean.

Tomorrow is our annual Baby Dedication Day. We will pray with and for the parents of 10 of our precious little ones. These parents realize the important role that the local church plays as they seek to bring their children up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. On the other hand, today at 1 PM, we will remember a faithful sister in Christ, Diane Helmer, at her memorial service. She has proceeded us to Heaven, but she really valued and loved her church family. You’re welcome to join us for both events.

Many of our teenagers made it back safely from their basketball and volleyball tournaments in New Mexico. Thank you for your prayers. We are proud of each of them and we believe God will use even competitions like this to prepare them to do His will for their life. Our primary and junior age boys will grow and learn in our church Little League games today.

Soul winners of all ages will go out this morning to share the gospel. Bus workers will lovingly make visits. Tomorrow there will be classes, clubs and choirs for all ages. I could go on and on. It is truly a beautiful thing! The local church is vital in every stage of life and I pray you and your family will be a part. Dawn and I love you all and we look forward to seeing you in the morning.

Happy Resurrection Day weekend!

There is just no way to overstate the importance of the resurrection to each and every believer! Think about the great truths given in 1 Corinthians 15 with me. From a doctrinal standpoint, without the resurrection, our preaching is in vain, our faith is in vain, we are false witnesses and we are yet in our sins. From a practical standpoint, if Christ was not resurrected, we are without hope and we are of all men most miserable. We have no hope of seeing our departed loved ones again and we have no hope of our own resurrection. If the tomb were not empty on the third day, our future is indeed bleak!

Ah! But now is Christ risen from the dead, and by Him shall all believers be made alive! Oh yes! He must reign, till He has put all enemies under His feet. Thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ! He is risen! So let us be steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord! Our labor is not in vain!

Can you see it, friend? Resurrection Day is the ultimate day of victory and celebration for us. We have great hope for the future and so many others need hope, so let’s share the good news of the gospel with them! What is the gospel? It is simply the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Will you invite a friend, neighbor, coworker or family member to church tomorrow? We have made exciting plans!

There will be a gift card for every adult guest, a giant Easter egg hunt for the children and a special backdrop in the foyer for photos. We will hear inspiring music and a Bible message entitled, Why Seek Ye the Living Among the Dead?We are praying especially for souls to be saved. I know of no way to better honor our risen Saviour! Please join us! Dawn and I love you all and we look forward to celebrating with you tomorrow.

Greetings church family,

I often say, We are having fun, but we aren’t playing. What does this mean? It means that although we have many exciting activities on our church calendar, we are very intentional. We have big days and special events for three basic reasons. First, to attract the unsaved and reach the lost with the gospel. This is first and foremost…always. Secondly, to provide fellowship opportunities for our church family. We all benefit from encouragement and exhortation. Finally, to create lasting memories for our children and grandchildren. They need to associate church with the joy of the Lord.

Tomorrow is our annual Old-fashioned Day and we have many events planned with you and your family in mind. Bring a main dish and either a side dish or a dessert for our dinner-on-the-grounds following the 10 AM service. Please plan to stay and fellowship. We will have sack races, jump rope contests and hay rides for the children. We will also have horseshoe and co****le competition. Also, wear your old-fashioned outfits for pictures and a family dress-up contest. It will be memorable, for sure!

Pray with me for guests to come and for souls to be saved! The church will provide a gift card for every adult guest and our contest is underway for the trip to Bearizona and the Grand Canyon. Let’s all pray and get involved! There are no rewards for good and faithful spectators.

Please continue to pray for Martha Kinyonga in her continued battle with cancer. Pray also for Henry Barker and Henry Brown and their families. Dawn and I love you all. We look forward to seeing you in the morning!

Greetings everyone,

My staff, several others, and I made it back safely from Chicago this week. Thank you for your prayers. The Servants’ Conference, hosted by First Baptist Church of Hammond, was a great blessing. We were challenged by the preaching, instructed by the teaching and encouraged by the fellowship. We were able to see many of our Bible college students and several of our missionaries…including those for whom we have been especially praying.

Nate Wilkerson is our missionary to Benin, West Africa. His wife gave premature birth to a little girl, Aurora, on March 9. The baby is in the NICU in Knoxville, Tennessee, but is stable and improving. We were able to pray with him. We also saw Jeremy Barker, who serves in Nigeria. His three-year-old son, Henry is still in critical condition, but there are signs of improvement and the family is encouraged. He expressed gratitude for our prayers.

Our Missionary to Turkey, Mark Bachman, was also there. Please pray for him and his family as his father…and my wife’s first pastor…went to Heaven two weeks ago. I was able to greet Luis Martinez, our Missionary to Puerto Rico. Please continue to pray for his son, Luis Jr., who is back in the hospital receiving treatments for leukemia. There are certainly great needs everywhere, but our God is able and He answers prayer! Let’s continue to intercede.

I am praying for you as well, friend, and I look forward to seeing you tomorrow. Our Spring Program begins next Sunday with Old-fashioned Day. Please pray for our Easter outreach on April 5. Hot or cold… God is good, all the time and we owe him our faithfulness. Dawn and I love you very much. See you in the morning.

Hello church family,

An eternal investment! That is what so many of you made this week at our Scripture Assembly Project. And it was done in faith…we don’t know exactly how God will use the Scriptures, but we believe that He will. And it was done in harmony with the local church…those of all ages and backgrounds simply doing their part. Teamwork makes the dream work! Thank you for being involved.

As I have often said, the work of the gospel requires sacrifice. Jesus paid the great price for our sins. Now we follow His example and give unselfishly to get the message out. Reaching the lost requires at least four things. First, dedicated menwho are willing to go and to pray. Then, it requires money…given in love with a heart for others. Finally, gospel work involves media platforms and materials…as with the John/Roman Scriptures. Think about it, friend! Somebody gave so we could hear the good news. What a privilege to be used to reach someone else!

We will pray over the more than 30,000 Scriptures we assembled in the 10 AM service tomorrow. Please be in your place and do your part. You will also have a chance to meet Brian Hubbard from Bearing Precious Seed Ministries. We are so grateful for his help. The scriptures will go to Mexico City…specifically to our missionary, Kevin Wynne. He has thousands of soul winners ready to distribute them.

Please pray for our bus workers and soul winners who will go out today. Pray also for our Little League baseballpractice. We are a blessed, but busy church! Dawn and I love you all and we can’t wait to see you in the morning! All of us…all the way!

Good morning friends,

Did you ever disagree with God? Did you ever have your heart set on something and sincerely pray, but the desire was not met?
These times of disappointment can be very bitter for us...and we are not alone. Many, many Bible characters experienced deep disappointment, including Job (loss of family and wealth), Moses (forbidden to enter the Promised Land), Hannah (infertility), Naomi (widowhood), and David (betrayed by his son). All of these struggled with God's timing or plan.

Listen to Micah 1:12, For the inhabitant of Maroth (bitterness) waited carefully for good: but evil came down from the Lord unto the gate at Jerusalem. These folks certainly knew the bitterness of disappointment. At times, perhaps we can relate to them.
What is the answer? Read the rest of this small Old Testament book and you'll see that God's people were to continue to look forward in faith. They were to hold on to the promise of the coming Messiah and His great kingdom. I love Micah 7:7 which reads, Therefore, I will look into the Lord; I will wait for the God of my salvation, my God will hear me.

Wow! When disappointment comes, we too, can find strength through faith. If we will hold to His promises, we will find that bitter experiences can lead to a deeper trust in God. So don't give up, friend. God is always good and He is always right. His ways are above our ways and He promises that all things work together for good to them that love Him and are surrendered to His will.

Please make plans to join us tomorrow as we worship our good God together. All of us, all the way is my prayer. Congratulations to our boys basketball team, who represented as well at their tournament. Pray for our church little league which begins today. Dawn and I love you all. See you in the morning!

02/28/2026

Hello everyone,

How important is the Lord’s Supper? It is one of only two ordinances, or God-ordained ceremonies, given by the Lord Jesus to the New Testament church…the other being Baptism. The Lord’s Supper has been abused by some and misunderstood by others. Of course, no ritual is necessary for salvation. So, why do we observe it?

First, we come to the Lord’s table, as a body of believers, to look back and remember our wonderful Saviour! Jesus said as He broke bread in Luke 22:19, this do in remembrance of Me. We take the unleavened bread and juice to help us remember the Lord’s broken body and shed blood. This stirs our love for Jesus and, in turn, we serve Him out of love.

Secondly, as we observe the Lord’s Supper, we look inwardly…at our own spiritual condition. First Corinthians 11 cautions Christians against carelessness at the Lord’s table. In fact, we are told, let a man examine himself. At this time, we are advised to judge ourselves that we should not be judged by God. Yes, it is a good time for a spiritual check-up.

Lastly, the Lord’s Supper is a time to look forward to the return of our Saviour. Again, 1 Corinthians 11:26 tells us by eating the bread and drinking the cup, we do shew the Lord‘s death till he come. Over and over during His earthly ministry, the Lord Jesus commanded us to watch for His return. For that time when raptured saints will celebrate with Christ and His final victory at the Marriage Supper of the Lamb. When we observe the Lord’s Supper, we anticipate that great coming day by faith.

Why mention all of this? Because, friends, we will observe the Lord’s Supper as a church family tomorrow during the 10 AM service. Please come with your hearts and minds prepared! God blessed us with a great Spring Revival and we are so thankful. Many souls were saved and hearts were stirred. Let’s pray that God will continue to work! Dawn and I love you all and we look forward to seeing you in the morning.
