All Saints Catholic Church Mesa 1534 N Recker Road
Mesa, Arizona On June 12, 1972, Father William McKay was named Pastor of a new parish in East Mesa. Bishops Hall was added a few years later.

Bishop McCarthy approved the name of All Saints in September, 1972. Early Masses were held in the Velda Rose Motel, Farnsworth Hall, Father McKay's home chapel, and Melcer's Mission Chapel before the first Mass was celebrated in the new church on October 26, 1974. The dedication and blessing by Bishop McCarthy followed on February 23, 1975. The hall and parking spaces were added in 1975. In 1978,

All Saints parish was divided and Holy Cross was established. In 1982, for the 10th Anniversary, Bishop O'Brien joined in the burning of the mortgage. Father McKay retired in 1995 and Father Robert Caruso became the second Pastor of All Saints. Due to the needs of the growing community in East Mesa, Father Caruso began working with the Diocese of Phoenix to build a larger church for the parish. In 2004, Bishop O'Brien granted permission for the construction of a new chuch on the property. Groundbreaking for the new church took place in November 2009 and the construction was completed in April 2011. The first Mass was held on Holy Thursday, April 21, 2011.

July is dedicated to the Blood of Christ. We know that Christ offers his blood to us at the Eucharist, an event that is recorded in the Gospel. But did you know this moment has foundations in the Old Testament?

The blood of the Passover Lamb marks out God's chosen people: "Seeing the blood, I will pass over you." (Exodus 12:13) Likewise, those who are washed in Christ's blood are saved.
⁣
The Old Testament also links blood to life. "It is the blood, as the seat of life, that makes atonement." (Leviticus 17:11) Christ doesn't just shed his blood for us; he allows us to receive his life through it.
⁣
Christ, of course, establishes a new covenant in his blood, "which will be shed on behalf of many for the forgiveness of sins." (Matthew 26:28)
⁣
And if there's any doubt about the Blood of Christ fulfilling promises of the Old Testament, take a look at what the epistles say: Christ makes peace between man and God "by the blood of his cross" (Colossians 1:20), such that we now "have confidence of entrance into the sanctuary by the blood of Jesus" (Hebrews 10:19).

The Blood of Christ--a profound gift poured out on the cross and given to us in the Eucharist, but with significance throughout the Bible.
