Mt Calvary Baptist Church - Mesa

Mt Calvary Baptist Church - Mesa Church Mt. Calvary Baptist Church is the oldest predominantly Black Church in Mesa. In 1918, the late Reverend J.B. Calvary Baptist Church.

It began as a mission with the leadership coming from missionaries who commuted several miles each week. The first meeting place was under a tree in the front yard of the late Clara McPherson (wife and mother of the first black family to reside in Mesa). Bell organized the mission into a formal church. These early members gave the church the name it bears Mt. From this humble beginning, Mt. Calvary had six known Pastors.

To All of the Sweet Members of Mount Calvary,

To God be the glory! God has blessed me with the privilege of returning to the pulpit on Sunday after being on sabbatical for the past month.

I sincerely thank each of you for your perseverance, faithfulness, and commitment to growing as mature believers in the absence of your shepherd. Your faithfulness has been both a blessing and an encouragement.

I am so excited to be back in fellowship with you and to proclaim the Word of God once again. I solicit your continued prayers as I return to the pulpit, and I look forward to all that God will do among us.

I trust and pray that you will begin your morning with us in Sunday Church School and join us for both worship services. And yes, I’m praying for a WHITE SOCK SUNDAY! 🤍🧦
