For Capuchins, the Gospel is not simply a source of inspiration. It is the highest law guiding every aspect of their lives.

The Constitutions call the brothers to read and meditate on God’s Word, following the example of the Blessed Virgin Mary, who carried it in her heart.

The invitation extends to each of us: to encounter Christ in Scripture and allow His Word to shape how we live, love, and serve.

Tuesdays with Francis 🤎

For St. Francis, fraternity was more than simply living together. It was a commitment to love, support, and care for one another with the tenderness of a mother for her child.

In his Earlier Rule, Francis reminds his brothers that fraternal love is not merely an ideal, but something to be lived through everyday acts of kindness, compassion, and service.

This spirit of brotherhood remains at the heart of Capuchin Franciscan life—a fraternity rooted in Christ, strengthened through prayer, and expressed in genuine care for one another.

May we all strive to extend that same love and care to those God places in our lives.

—St. Padre Pio

Before Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, these words reveal their meaning. To become a victim of love is to surrender ourselves completely to Christ—allowing His love to transform us until our lives become an offering of love in return.

October 25 | Blessed María Jesús and Companions 🤎

Today we honor five Capuchin Poor Clare martyrs: María Jesús, María Felicidad, and María Verónica Masiá Ferragud, Milagros Ortells Gimeno, and Isabel Calduch Rovira. During religious persecution in Spain, they remained faithful to Christ and their religious consecration, giving their lives in witness to the faith.

Pictured here are Blessed María Teresa Ferragud Roig and her four daughters: the three Capuchin sisters and their sister Josefa de la Purificación, a Discalced Augustinian nun.

On October 25, 1936, this mother and her daughters were killed for their faith. María Teresa asked to die last so she could encourage her daughters to remain faithful. They forgave their persecutors and proclaimed, “¡Viva Cristo Rey!”—“Long live Christ the King!”

Let us pray:

Almighty God, you gave Blessed María Jesús and her companions the double crown of virginity and martyrdom. Grant that through their intercession we may persevere in genuine charity and experience the power of the resurrection of Christ, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Joyful news for the Capuchin family!

Brother Daniele Natale, OFM Cap., has been declared Venerable! On October 24, 2026, Pope Leo XIV authorized the decree recognizing his heroic virtues, marking an important step in his cause for beatification and canonization.

A spiritual son of St. Padre Pio, Brother Daniele lived his Capuchin vocation through humble service as a porter, cook, and sacristan. During World War II, he cared for the wounded and displaced in Foggia, Italy. Through years of illness, he remained devoted to prayer and to bringing others closer to God.

His life reminds us that holiness grows through our daily response to God’s love—in prayer, in service, and in the ordinary tasks entrusted to us.

We give thanks for his witness and pray for the continued progress of his cause! 🙏🏻

Teamwork, Capuchin style! ⚾🤎

Our brothers in the Province of St. Joseph bring together baseball, brotherhood, and service in this fun tribute to the Milwaukee Brewers.

We’re grateful to our brothers in St. Joseph for hosting the shared Capuchin postulancy program. Keep all our postulants in your prayers as they discern, serve, and grow together.

Today we celebrate the Memorial of Pope St. John Paul II. 🤎

Discerning God’s call can bring both hope and uncertainty. His words remind us that we can trust the Lord’s presence as we listen, ask questions, and take the next step.

St. John Paul II, pray for those discerning a vocation to priesthood and religious life. May they have the courage to hear Christ’s invitation and the freedom to respond with love.

Capuchin Constitutions Wednesday

For St. Francis, fraternity was more than a bond among brothers. Rooted in his love of God, it was a way of seeing Christ in every person and recognizing all creation as a gift of the Father.

This spirit of universal brotherhood remains at the heart of Capuchin life. Through prayer, fraternity, and service, the friars strive to make God’s love visible in the world.

May we, too, learn to recognize Christ in everyone we encounter.
