This fourth Sunday of Advent, we light the Candle of Peace.

“For a child will be born for us,
a son will be given to us,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
He will be named
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6 CSB

The birth of Jesus, the Messiah, had been foretold by Isaiah hundreds of years before he came to earth as a baby. When we read the account leading up to Jesus’ birth, many of the people of Israel had waited a long time for the Messiah who would come and rescue them. They lived in a season of darkness and uncertainty, longing for peace.

Today, in a season that advertises excitement and joy, many of us can feel disconnected and overwhelmed, struggling to find peace in the chaos of the world around us. In these moments, may we draw near to God and may his peace surround us, steady and present, even when our circumstances are not.

We invite you to join us this Christmas Eve as we celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus.

This third Sunday of Advent, we light the Candle of Joy.

Today's Advent Reading: Isaiah 35:1-10 and Matthew 11:2-11

We invite you to take time to reflect on the joy we can have in knowing Jesus came to earth as a baby, walked among us, then died and rose again for us so we can have a personal relationship with him.

We recognize that sometimes the holidays are hard for so many reasons and it can be hard to feel joy in our circumstances. Perhaps you’re estranged from a family member, lost a loved one, or are struggling financially and just don’t know how it will all work out. He understands our pain and has compassion for us.

Here are some reflective questions we engaged this morning that may be small ways to reflect on the joy that’s sometimes hard to grasp onto:

As we think about Joy, what things come to mind for you?

What is something that God has done for you that gives you joy?

Where do you find joy in God’s creation?

This second Sunday of Advent, we light the Candle of Faith, also known as the Candle of the Way.

In today’s service, we studied Matthew 3:1-12 and John the Baptist’s role in preparing the way for Jesus.

“In those days John the Baptist came, preaching in the wilderness of Judea and saying, ‘Repent, because the kingdom of heaven has come near!’ For he is the one spoken of through the prophet Isaiah, who said: ‘A voice of one crying out in the wilderness: Prepare the way for the Lord; make his paths straight!’” ~ Matthew 3:1-3 CSB

As we anticipate celebrating the birth of Jesus, we are filled with gratitude that he made a way for us to have a personal relationship with Him.

We invite you to join us this Advent season.

This first Sunday of Advent, we light the first candle of our Advent wreath, the Candle of Hope, also known as the Candle of Prophecy.

It reminds us of God's promise of the Messiah, Jesus, and the hope we have in Him.

"The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; a light has dawned on those living in the land of darkness." ~ Isaiah 9:2

In the midst of life's busyness, Advent invites us to pause and reflect on the hope we have in Christ.

We invite you to join us this Advent season.

If you’d prefer to check out our church in a more casual setting, our missional communities meet in small groups during the week in each other’s homes.

All are welcome!

Due to the weather forecast for Saturday night into Sunday, we have decided to cancel this Sunday’s church service.

While the snow may stop before our service time, we recognize many of you will need to clear driveways, and streets may not be in the greatest condition.
