1 Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. 3 For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.
Colossians 3:1-14
The New Testament teaches that there is both a Hidden and visible aspect in our lives as Christians. In our mental and spiritual discipline and in the way we carry out our good works.
Matthew
6 “Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.
And yet Jesus tells that we should also let our light shine out.
Matthew 5:14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.
This is the paradox of the Christian life, both hidden and yet visible. But it is the balance that achieves God's purpose for the church.
