This past week, I had the joy of serving for the first time as Chaplain and Spiritual Director at Camp Wanakee. The week's theme focused on how life's journey often feels like traveling through a wilderness, reminding us that God faithfully walks with us every step of the way. It was a blessing to connect with the campers, listen to their stories, and offer encouragement through prayer, conversation, preaching, and devotionals on love, kindness, compassion, and trusting God. One of the most meaningful moments was simply being present with young people carrying heavy burdens and reminding them that they are never alone in their journey.

A highlight of the week was an interactive worship service on Jesus and Peter walking on the water (swimming), where campers experienced the story by the lake. It beautifully illustrated that even when fear overwhelms us, Jesus reaches out to save and meet us when we call on Him. Also, Moses guided the people through the desert. The campers were allowed to experience the column of fire, cloud (smoke), and were free to complain all the way to the Promised Land. When have you been freely allowed to complain? It was an opportunity to have fun and learn that God was with us in our wilderness (journey), no matter if it was day or night.

I returned home deeply grateful for the opportunity to serve. Although I was tired, I felt energized by the faith, service, and resilience of the campers and leaders. It was truly a blessed week, and I eagerly look forward to participating next year. Pastor Milka
