Happy Saturday from all of us at Warren's Corners United Methodist Church!

What a glorious Saturday. Even the coffee seems to taste a little better when you know you don't have to rush anywhere. Maybe you are heading out for a drive, doing a little shopping, meeting up with a friend, or just seeing where the day takes you. And somewhere along the way, chances are somebody will help somebody. A door gets held, something heavy gets carried, somebody reaches the top shelf for someone else, directions get given, or somebody simply notices what is going on and steps in. Most of the time we probably do these things without even thinking twice about them.

"Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God's grace in its various forms." 1 Peter 4:10

I really like the words "whatever gift you have received." God did not make all of us good at the same thing, and thank goodness for that because the world would be pretty boring if He did. Some people can fix almost anything. Some can walk into a room and immediately notice who could use a hand. Some have endless patience. Some can make somebody laugh at exactly the right time. Some just have a way of making people feel comfortable and included. We may think, "That's just what I do,"well God may be using that very thing in somebody else's life.

And maybe that is what makes serving God a little more beautiful than we sometimes realize. It is not always something we plan ahead of time or even recognize while we are doing it. Sometimes it is simply God taking the person He made us to be and putting us in the right place at the right time. We help because we can. We noticed because that is who We are. We share something we are good at, make somebody laugh, solve a problem, or make something a little easier, and God is right there in the middle of it.

So enjoy your Saturday. Take the drive, meet the friend, wander through the store, have another cup of coffee if you feel like it. And somewhere in the middle of just enjoying your day, do not be surprised if God finds a little way to use you too. And sometimes that one little thing is exactly what puts a smile on somebody's face and stays with them for the rest of the day.

May God bless the gifts he has placed in each of us and keep using them in ways that bring a little more kindness, joy, and love into the lives around us.

Happy Friday from all of us at Warren's Corners United Methodist Church!

Have you ever been so excited about something that your brain just skipped a step? You know exactly what you are supposed to do, but for a second all common sense disappears because you're too busy reacting. That is pretty much what happened to Rhonda.

Peter knocked at the outer entrance, and a servant named Rhonda came to answer the door. When she recognized Peter's voice, she was so overjoyed she ran back without opening it and exclaimed, Peter is at the door! Acts 12:13-14

The church had been praying for Peter while he was in prison. God answered that prayer, Peter showed up at the house, and Rhonda got so excited she forgot to let him in. Meanwhile, Peter was still standing outside knocking. It is such a funny little moment, but there's also something really beautiful underneath it. Sometimes God answers in a way that catches Us completely off guard, even when we have been praying for exactly that.

We can spend so much time asking God for help, praying for someone, waiting for something to change, or hoping for an answer that when something finally happens, it can take us a minute to believe it. That does not mean our faith is weak. Sometimes it just means we are human. Rhonda believed Peter was there before anyone else did, and her excitement was so real that she forgot the most obvious thing, open the door.

Maybe that is one of the best parts of this story. God was working while everyone inside was still trying to figure out what was going on. He had already moved before they fully understood it. And sometimes that happens in our lives too. We may not always recognize the answer right away, but that does not mean God is not already at work.

May God keep our hearts open to the ways he is moving around us, and may we never lose the joy of being surprised by his goodness.

Happy Thursday from all of us at Warren's Corners United Methodist Church!

Lately it seems like more and more people are carrying little reminders of their faith with them. A small cross in a pocket. A little Jesus figure tuck somewhere. A prayer card in a wallet. A verse on the refrigerator. Something small that can stop us for a second and bring our thoughts right back to God.

There is actually a moment in Joshua that reminds me of that. After the Israelites crossed the Jordan River, God told Joshua to have 12 Stones taken from the river and set them up as a memorial. Later, when their children asked what the stones meant, they were supposed to tell them what God had done for them.

"In the future, when your children ask you, What do the stones mean? Tell them that the flow of the Jordan was cut off before the ark of the covenant of the Lord. These stones are to be a memorial to the people of Israel forever." Joshua 4:6-7

Those Stones became a reminder of what God had done for his people. And I think that is what so many of these little things can become for us too. A cross in our pocket, a verse we keep close, or something we can reach for with our hand can bring our thoughts right back to God. Sometimes that little reminder can bring peace, hope, strength or simply the reassurance that he is right there with us.

Sometimes we need those reminders. Life gets busy. Our minds get pulled in a hundred directions. We worry, we get distracted, and sometimes we just forget to stop and remember that God is with Us in all of it. Something small can be enough to bring us back for a moment and remind us to pray, to trust Him, or simply to remember how loved we are.

Maybe you have something like that too. It might be a cross, a piece of jewelry, a verse, an old Bible, a prayer card. Sometimes those little things become very important to us because they remind us of God's love, His promises, and the hope we have in Him. They can become something we reach for on a hard day, something we smile at on a good day, or simply something that keeps our faith close in the middle of everyday life.

Whatever helps bring your mind back to God, keep it close.

May God keep our hearts aware of His presence, remind us of His love in the joyful times, the hard times, and all the moments in between, and help us keep our eyes on Him every day.

Happy Wednesday from all of us at Warren's Corners United Methodist Church!

By the middle of the week, most of us have a pretty good idea how things are going. Maybe it has been busy. Maybe it has been quiet. Maybe it has been one of those weeks where every day has had a little bit of everything. Either way, Wednesday seems like a good day to stop for a minute and remember that Joy does not always have to come from something big.

You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands.
Isaiah 55:12

That verse just has a happy feel to it. Mountain singing, trees clapping, Joy and peace all wrapped up in one picture. But there is more happening here than just a beautiful description. Isaiah was speaking to people who knew what it felt like to be far from home and unsure of what was ahead. Earlier in the chapter, god invites His people to come back to Him, to listen to Him, and to trust that His word will do what he sends it out to do. Then we get this picture of them going forward with joy and peace. Even creation seems to be celebrating with them.

And that changes the verse a little when you know what is behind it. The joy did not come because these people had never known trouble. It came after trouble. The peace did not mean nothing difficult had ever happened. It meant God was still leading them forward. That is what makes those singing mountains and clapping trees feel like more than just pretty words. They are a picture of what God can do when He brings his people through something and reminds them the story is still moving.

Maybe that is what makes this verse so much fun to read. It does not whisper Joy. It practically throws its arms in the air. The mountains are singing. The trees are clapping. Everything in the picture feels alive. Our faith is not only what carries us through the hard days. It reminds us who God is every single day, and knowing Him gives us a reason for real Joy. We talk a lot about trusting God when things are hard, and we should. But we should also remember to enjoy the times when our hearts feel a little lighter, when peace comes easier, and when we can simply be glad that God is good.

So maybe Wednesday can carry a little bit of Isaiah's picture with it. Not because everything has to be perfect before we can have joy, but because the God who was leading His people then is still leading His people now. There are times to pray through the hard stuff, and there are also times to let the trees clap, let the hills sing, and be thankful that Joy gets to be part of our faith too.

Happy Tuesday from all of us at Warren's Corners United Methodist Church!

It is amazing how one little comment can stay with us far longer than it probably should. Somebody says something a little Sharp, somebody's tone feels off, or we hear something we probably were never meant to hear, and hours later we are still thinking about it, and sometimes even add things to the story that were never really there. Meanwhile, the person who said it may have already forgotten all about it.

Do not pay attention to every word people say, or you may hear your servant cursing you, for you know in your heart that many times you yourself have cursed others. Ecclesiastes 7:21-22

There is a lot packed into those two verses. Ecclesiastes is not saying words do not matter or that we should ignore everything people say. It is reminding us that all of us have had moments when we said something too quickly, sounded harsher than we meant to, complained when we were frustrated, or wished afterward that we could take a sentence back. God knows everyone of those moments, and He still gives us Grace.

And maybe remembering that can make things a little easier. Not every comment has to stay with us all day. Not every awkward moment needs to turn into something bigger. Sometimes a conversation is needed, sometimes an apology is needed, and sometimes we can just let something go and move on. That does not mean pretending nothing happened. It just means we do not have to carry every little thing with us.

There is another side to this too. Well we are thinking about what somebody said to us, there may be someone else who remembers something we said without thinking. That is where Grace works both ways. God gives us room to learn, grow, apologize, forgive, and try again. He does not hold one bad moment over our heads forever, and maybe we can give each other a little more of that same Grace.

We are never going to say everything perfectly, and neither is anybody around us. But one bad comment does not have to ruin the whole day, and one bad moment does not have to define a person. God is still working in all of us, and there is always room for kindness, forgiveness, and a fresh start.

Happy Monday from all of us at Warren's Corners United Methodist church!

You know how easy it is to become the person who just handles things? Somebody needs something, you take care of it. Something goes wrong, you figure it out. There is a phone call to make, an appointment to keep, a problem that needs solving, somebody who needs a hand, and before long you are the one carrying more than anybody realizes.

And sometimes that goes on for quite a while before we even notice what it is doing to us. We get tired, short-tempered, overwhelmed, or just plain worn out. We tell ourselves we are fine because we are still getting things done. But being able to keep going does not always mean we are supposed to keep carrying everything by ourselves.

Moses found himself in that exact kind of place.

"What you are doing is not good. You and these people who come to you will only wear yourselves out. The work is too heavy for you; you cannot handle it alone." Exodus 18:17-18

Jethro had been watching Moses deal with every problem people brought to him from morning until evening. He saw something Moses was too busy to see. This was too much for one person. So he spoke up, Moses listened, and other people were brought into help.

And I think this is where God shows up in this story in such a real way. Sometimes God helps us through the people around us. Through the person who notices we are tired. Through the person who offers to take something off our plate. Through the person who gives us advice we did not know we needed. And sometimes God is working through us when we are the ones who notice somebody else is carrying too much and steps in to help.

We do not always recognize what God is doing while we are right in the middle of it. Sometimes His care looks like an answered prayer. Sometimes it looks like strength we did not know we had. And sometimes it looks like another person standing beside us and saying, you do not have to do all of this alone.

God was with Moses in the work, and he was also with Him in the help that came. Maybe that is a good reminder for us too. God is still working around us, through us, and through the people He puts in our lives.

Good Sunday morning!

Here we are at the last Sunday of August already. Somehow this month flew by, and now we are getting ready to turn the calendar again. Pastor Cheryl is back with us this morning after her vacation, and we are glad to have her back. Warren's Corners is one of the best kept secrets in the area, and there is a lot to love about this church. It is a good place to spend a Sunday morning.

Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing Love, for I have put my trust in you. Psalms 143:8

Worship begins at 11:15 A.M. this morning, and we would love to have you join us.

Hello from Warren's Corners United Methodist Church!

Can you believe we are already at the end of August? It feels like we were just talking about the beginning of Summer, and now September is practically knocking on the door. Apples and c***r are starting to show up, pumpkin spice is everywhere again, football is coming back, and somebody somewhere has already pulled out the fall decorations. Meanwhile, August is still hanging on like, excuse me, I'm not finished yet.

And somehow a whole summer has passed while we were busy living it. There were sunny days, rainy days, Sunday mornings, conversations, laughter, probably a few plans that never happened, and plenty of days that just came and went like they always do. Through all of it, God was there, simply sharing in the days with us as they came.

I think maybe that is what I like about this little spot between August and September. Nothing dramatic has to happen. We can just look back for a minute, thank God for what has been, and look ahead to apples, cooler days, colorful leaves, and yes, even all that pumpkin spice. God has been good to us through another summer, and I have a feeling he will have plenty waiting for us in the months ahead too.

So enjoy this last Saturday of August. Laugh a little, enjoy whatever is on your plate today, and thank God for another day to be here for it.

Good Friday Morning from all of us at Warren's Corners United Methodist Church!

Accomplishment can look so different from one person to the next. Maybe it's finally getting that closet cleaned out that you've been avoiding for months. Maybe it's figuring out something new on your phone, finishing a project around the house, getting yourself to an appointment you really did not want to go to, paying off a bill, making a meal for somebody who needed it, or fixing something for a friend and saving them a whole lot of trouble. Sometimes it is simply doing something today that was hard for you yesterday. We tend to think accomplishments have to be big before they count, but a whole lot of things we are most proud of are actually pretty simple.

"Do not despise the Small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin." Zachariah 4:10

Zachariah was talking to people who were rebuilding the temple. They had a whole lot of work ahead of them, and what they had accomplished so far probably did not look like much compared with everything that still needed to be done. But God did not look at their beginning and dismiss it because it was small. He rejoiced that they had begun. I think that says a lot about God. He sees where we are starting from. He knows what something takes out of us. He knows when one little step actually took a whole lot of courage, and he does not need some huge finished result before it matters to him.

That is why accomplishment really cannot look the same for everybody. Something that comes easily to one person may take another person weeks to work up the courage to do. Helping somebody with something we happen to know how to do may feel simple to us, well to them it may be a tremendous blessing. And sometimes our accomplishment really is just that we started. The people rebuilding the temple still had plenty left to do, but God was already rejoicing over the beginning. Maybe we can give ourselves and each other a little more room to celebrate those beginnings too, knowing that God sees every bit of what it took to get there.

May God help us appreciate the things we accomplish, big or small, and remind us that he sees the whole story behind every step we take. Have a wonderful Friday!

Good Thursday Morning from all of us at Warren's Corners United Methodist Church!

Have you ever been driving when the rain suddenly starts coming down so hard you can barely see the road in front of you? One minute everything is fine, and the next the wipers are going as fast as they can, you're gripping the steering wheel a little tighter, and all you can really do is slow down and keep moving until you get through it. You don't always know how long it is going to last. You just know that eventually the rain will ease, the road will become clearer, and you will keep going.

"When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze." Isaiah 43:2

I think sometimes we read a verse like that and focus so much on the water and the fire that we miss the important part. God says, I will be with you. He doesn't promise that life will always be easy, but He does promise His presence. He is with us when we feel strong, and He is with us when we are tired. He is with us when we can see the way forward, and He is with us when we can only see the next step.

And that gives us something hopeful to hold onto. Hard days do not last forever. Confusion does not last forever. Fear does not get to have the final word. God is still working, Still guiding, Still strengthening, and still reminding us that we were never on our own. Sometimes we can look back and see exactly how He carried us through something we once thought we could never handle.

Maybe that is what Isaiah 43:2 gives us today. The storm may come. The water may rise. The fire may feel close. But God is closer. We may not know exactly how everything will turn out, but we know who is walking with us. And with Him beside us, there is always a reason to keep going, keep trusting, and keep believing that brighter days are still ahead.

May God fill us with peace for today, Hope for tomorrow, and confidence in knowing that whatever comes, we never walk through it alone. Have a wonderful Thursday!
