Our church is built of cobblestones and is on the National Register of Historic places. North Ridge Methodist Church was founded by Olive Beach, a lady who walked through the woods all the way to Youngstown to bring a circuit riding preacher to the North Ridge Community. The congregation was established in 1816; they met in homes until the church was built in 1848. It was founded as a community ch
urch and eventually became a Methodist-Episcopal Church, then a Methodist Church and, finally a United Methodist Church in 1968 with the merger of the United Brethren and Methodist Churches. The edifice is built of smooth stones gathered on the shores of Lake Ontario. The church hall, dining room, and kitchen have been renovated over the years; in 1982, a Sunday School wing was added. Most recently, the fellowship room was updated to include a kitchenette, a gathering and an space where refreshments can be served. We are pleased to be able to offer a family atmosphere where God can be worshiped, where joys and concerns can be shared and a spirit of love which reaches into the community at large.
