Yesterday, we had our Northeastern District of the C&MA Superintendent, Bryce Baldwin, with us. He brought a powerful challenge from Acts 8:1-4 where he reminded us that what was intended to stop the church actually helped spread the gospel. Persecution scattered the believers, but wherever they went, they preached the Word. Acts 8:4 gives us both a message and a mission. The application question was: What in your life needs to die for the gospel to be scattered and planted?

He then shared something pretty special. A newspaper article from 1945 described our founding pastor, Rev. Gordon Keeney, as having been “assigned a missionary charge at Lockport.” LAC wasn't established to have a place to gather on Sundays. It was planted with a missionary purpose to reach lost people with the gospel of Jesus Christ.

More than 80 years later, that charge hasn't changed. Let’s be a church who continues to think outside of our walls.

Tim Westergren, our International Worker from Spain, spent some time sharing about Jesus, Spain, and sharing our faith with the AWANA kiddos tonight. Tim will also be sharing with our youth tonight, Men’s Bible study tomorrow morning, participating in our Worship Night Friday night, and be the special guest at our Missions Breakfast Saturday morning. Make some time to join us in welcoming Tim to Lockport this week.

We get to see them as loving husbands and fathers, faithful friends, and pastors who walk beside us through life’s celebrations, questions, and hardest days. Their care reaches far beyond Sunday morning.

They pray with us. They pray for us. And through acts of service, words of encouragement, and a willingness to show up wherever they’re needed, they live out what it means to be the hands and feet of Jesus.

This Pastor Appreciation Month, our cup overflows with gratitude for Pastor Alex Banks and Associate Pastor Nate Hill.

These photos capture just a GLIMPSE of the love they pour into our Lockport Alliance Church family. From mission trips to leading worship, from offering a helping hand to being a listening ear, they serve with hearts that point us toward Jesus ( and they aren’t afraid to make fools of themselves when it means bringing a little joy and laughter to the congregation!)

Pastor Alex and Pastor Nate, thank you for your prayers, your loving guidance, your humor, and the countless quiet ways you show up. We thank God for you and for the families who share you with all of us. You are deeply loved and appreciated.

You’ll find it across from the youth room, just outside the Fellowship Hall. There is a variety of fiction and nonfiction books for all ages
