Overlooked
A David Series
1 Samuel 16:1-13
The expectation of men is different from the choice of God. Men looked at the outward appearance, but God is interested in the heart of a man. David is a man after God heart.
When the prophet Samuel saw the first son of Jesse, he thought based on the physical appearance that thatβs the one chosen, but God had rejected him.
One of the lessons from the story of David is that if you step out with God, follow through with God. The ways of God are not our way, God sees differently, God chooses differently, and God values differently than people. People see appearance, God sees authenticity, People see talent , but God looks at the heart.
What did God see in David ?
1. A worshipping heart π , David worship ln the field long before worshipping on the throne. David was a true worshipper
2. Authentic heart π. David was not seeking the spotlight, he was faithful in the shadow, his faith was authentic.
3. Servant heart β€οΈ , David cared for the sheep, the same way he cared for the people.
4. Faithful heart π, David was faithful in the little, even before becoming the King. He kept showing up.
5. Courageous heart π, David showed courage all the way, from facing lions to standing up against Goliath.
6. Purposeful heart π , David loved the presence of God, he was after the heart of God.
Some questions to think about as we journey through the Bible about the life of David:
1. How does God see me today ?
2. What sin or what role could I be disqualified in God eyes?
3. What can set me apart in the eyes of God?
Lord grant us the heart of understanding. Let us see the way you see, open our eyes to understand your ways , may we not be rejected from your kingdom in Jesusβ name. Amen ππΎ
